Cossacks 3 may be closer to a Linux release
By CSharp, 11 May 2017 at 6:04 pm UTC

Quoting: TcheyYep, not many good RTS for Linux (yet ?), but still some good choices : [...]

I was referring to the RTS's that kind of feel like / play like the good old Age of Empires series. With lots of medieval armies and whatnot. But on your list are a few games I wasn't aware are out for Linux / aware of at all. Will check them out!

Marek submits patch series for threaded Gallium to Mesa, boosts performance in games
By CSharp, 11 May 2017 at 6:01 pm UTC

Awesome! This looks like a very significant boost to quite a bunch of games. I hope it gets deployed to the mainstream driver soon and we get to see it in the repos. Better performance is always good, specially for gaming.

If you're looking for a Death Rally type of game, BlazeRush is a good one. Performance is solid too.

I have high hopes for this, it's been sounding very interesting.

I'm a big fan of the X series, even the last one, X:Rebirth since they fixed it up.

I honestly thought this would be an asset flip.
This is an actual game ?
And actual zoo keepers had input ?
Odd. I would expect something a little more .... polished , I guess ?:(

Also it reminds me of this old abandonware :

How long are we Linux users expected to say in the beta limbo (is a little AA to much to ask for)? :(

Hah, you're totally right. Can't believe I missed that. I was asked to write it up and among the various things I had to do, I forgot to check if there were pre-existing articles. D'oh! Still, seems to have been for the best so all's well that ends well or something :P

QuoteI finally got a test build for Linux, if anyone wants to try it. (I don't have a Linux system so I have no idea how well it works.)

I bet putting a Linux installation to a machine for testing it must be very hard.

What kind of devs we are dealing with?

Apparently a group of devs from Minnesota Zoo and some educational institutions.

This game is a classic case of grand ambition hitting grand problems. Being a one man team doesn't help either, and having read through Josh's various conundrums, technical problems, burnout and recovery, I'm impressed that he's come out the other side with a system that looks great, looks like it will scale, a mod framework seems to be emerging out of the Lua level of scripting and generally the project shows signs of hitting maturity and actually having a chance at being viable.

Having backed kickstarters that failed due to burnout when the developer hits a hard issue (Dysis) I have some hope that this one might actually reach the release state.

Quoting: buenaventuraI got the Humble Positive Bundle for Curious Expedition, that game seems to never go down very much in price, so 10 dollars for it is sort of a bargain.

Yes, my purchase of the (full) Humble Positive Bundle was due to wanting to try out Curious Expedition. That game was the main influence for me, but the others (for Linux) also helped. Even Underrail, which I too would like to try under WINE.

Tempted by the new tinyBuild bundle, mainly for "The Final Station" game... but I own some of that bundle already (well the Linux titles that appeal to me). So, I haven't jumped on that one yet.

So how are you liking the expedition? I just lost on the 6th map, mauled by giant crab, after being seriously ravaged by rampant alcoholism and pyromania ^__^' I could not enter any event without the place being mysteriously on fire afterwards! Also, everyone rebelled when the whisky ran out. It was fun anyhow! Will try again with a new explorer.

EDIT: I restarted it again, now it's working. Apparently it needed more than one restart?

Ah, i played that on the arcades as well, and on the ZX Spectrum. Similar to 3D stock car championship as well, View video on youtube.com

That frame rate :)

Super Sprint however was exhilarating on those 4 player machines in the arcades. One of my favourite games from back in the day.

ok . so seems some players may have a bone to pick with the devs at this point.
I've seen a lot of complaints over how long development is taking but if they changed the scope it might make sense.
I wanted to hear from this community since I trust it more than some random steam review.
May pick this up on sale and give it a go and see if I like it.

I was just playing "Super Skidmarks" on FS-UAE, and thought that this is a genre that's been severely underrepresented in recent years.
