OK good, tried to install it yesterday and from the official website got the same problem as Liam. The AUR had a bunch of comments saying it was broken so I didn't bother. I will give it another shot later.
Looks good, I have not played an MMO in years.

Awesome!
I have purposely held back from playing this as well, although I purchased it a year or more ago. Played it for a couple hours and liked it a lot. This is exciting news! I have a feeling this game will be fantastic!

I added a new account (for a kid) to my friend list, but it was very tricky.
I have a steam group. I was able to find and join the steam group with the new account. Then I could invite the new account as a friend or vice versa, don't remember.

Quoting: sasannAnd I could not add him as a friend cause you cannot have friends on steam unless you spend $5 or more on games.

I've been playing this (nearly) every day since about a fortnight ago. Only Tier-4 stuff for me, but that's because I'm a fire mage, holy healer, nature/druid, ranger, fighter. Not to mention Tier-3 crafting of all tools and weapons, nearly Tier-4... and a gatherer, lumberjack, stonemason guy. Oh, and I just bought my own island and I'm a level 10 farmer now, and have my own Adept repair station.
So much variety! Obviously, this isn't how you should play the game... but you can if you want to! I'm just trying everything out that I can so that I can focus when the big reset takes place in July.
Next time around, I'll focus on nature and ranger. I'll probably do the gathering stuff - hide, lumberjacking and stonemasonry, then focus on building bows. I'll definitely do the island thing. It's like a farmville mini-game...
Phenomenal stuff. Yes, it's a bit grindy if you want to be insane like me and try a bit of everything, and yes, I agree with Liam - the PvE is a bit sparse, and the single-player PvE is utter pants, very boring. But still, cracking game overall.
All it needs is a GamingOnLinux.com guild. :D

As someone who (a) sniffs out bargains and (b) is primarily a Linux gamer, the Humble Monthly Subscriptions are generally very tempting. I get them if I like the early unlock, and I only buy one month at a time. If I like the early unlock AND it is out on Linux, then I'm very likely to get the Month's Subscription. Much of the time, I've been happy with the Surprise content, but not blown away by it.
My first Monthly was May 2016, where I got Mad Max ahead of the rumours of it coming to Linux, and then it came to Linux. (Yes, I took a bit of a risk, but I would have played the game on Windows if it didn't come to Linux.)
June 2016 - Rocket League ( + The Forest, Planetary Annihilation Titans, Steredenn, Wasted, ... )
December 2016 - Dragon's Dogma NOT Linux :( ( + The Escapists, Flame in the Flood, Mordheim, Hacknet) - not a good month for Linux. (I really wanted DD, and plan to play on WINE or Windows.)
Feb 2017 - X-COM 2 ( + Steamworld Heist, Okhlos, Ryse son of rome, Husk, ABZU, ... )
March 2017 - Total War: Warhammer ( + RIVE, Flat Heroes, Space Run Galaxy, Poly Bridge, ... )
May 2017 - Dirt Rally + Inside ( + Metrico+, The Turing Test, Undertale, This is the Police, ... )
June 2017 - Stellaris ( + ... don't know yet ... )
The unlisted months were not appealing enough to me, generally because the Early Unlock wasn't Linux or it wasn't a game I'd like.

Seems it needs native d3dx9_39. Looks like this library works for 2.0 as well, but it feels like it runs slightly better in Wine Staging 2.7 (running the game with showfps seems to suggest it gains a few fps or so)

Well , we need other genres with native ports. There is no point of insisting at the same genres.
Like you said ; DoW 3 is for the people who have certain criterias.
We need a fast paced popular fps. Which is Doom.
We need open world hits ; like Skyrim and Witcher 3. Linux gaming came to a certain level but from now on ( if we want to grow) we need more mainstreamed and much more popular games like these ones.
Linux gaming is not having a problem with ; indies , rts genre , strategy genre ( like Medieaval or Attila).
Linux gaming lacks of ; open world rpg's , fast paced shooter , sports games . Well , i'm not interested with that DoW title. I was buying nearly every Feral Port to just supporting them but not anymore. I mean i'm glad that we have Tomb Raider , Hitman , Dirt Rally and these games were good but Feral is just porting same games over and over again with that way.

Hey, I like RTS games, but the thing with DoW3 is that it only seems like something one would enjoy if a) you enjoy multiplayer, and b) if you are not a big DoW fan who wanted a game like previous DoWs

As far as I am concerned, I just love that game so far. Just like both GRID Autosport & F1 2015, it strikes the perfect balance between taking risks and driving carefully.

Otherwise, the bundle seems OK. 4 out of the 6 surprise games are on Linux and have good reviews. But those are games I would never buy. Will try them out to see if I like them. :)Same, bought April for Dirt, ended up too damn hard.
Been subscribed since january of this year, so far pretty good titles. Started to play that This Is The Police from this month's bundle and I LOVE it, will keep playing (like i have time for that :D)

Valve have changed how gifting games works
By razing32, 6 May 2017 at 9:31 am UTC
Agree with you completely.
But then again I can only imaging the sheer number of bot accounts that would pop up if they removed that 5$ limitation.
By razing32, 6 May 2017 at 9:31 am UTC
Quoting: sasannSo that's why I had to go through hell to gift a game to my cousin last night.
I created an steam account for him, Then tried to gift him the game but he was not my friend on steam. And I could not add him as a friend cause you cannot have friends on steam unless you spend $5 or more on games. I was not able to send him steam funds either!
So I had add $5 to his steam account using my credit card, then add him as my friend, then gift him the game. It should be easier than this.
Agree with you completely.
But then again I can only imaging the sheer number of bot accounts that would pop up if they removed that 5$ limitation.

Quoting: 14Quoting: constThe bundles this year had so much value for linux gamers, they are really worth a second look after release. We already got Inside. It was unlocked the same time as Dirt Rally. Check your keys on the site.
May: dirt rally, undertale, metrico+ and gonner. Inside may come later
April: Black Mesa, Layers of Fear, Tumblestone, Slime-san. Event[0] and The witness may come later
March: TotalWar Warhammer, RIVE, Poly Bridge, Uurnog, Flat Heroes
February: XCom2, SteamWorld HEIST, Oh, Dear...
I've been subscribed since XCOM 2. I didn't want that one a whole lot to be honest, but the bundle for $12 was still worth it to me. Since then, every month that they tell you what the front-runner game of the next month is going to be, I can't unsubscribe! I think it rocks. I wanted the Warhammer game really bad, I wanted Dirt really bad, and next month is Stellaris?! It's amazing.
It also helps that I dropped my EVE subscription at the same time I signed up for Humble Monthly. :)
For the purists out there, you can gift Windows-only games (with no hope of coming to Linux) to your friends on the dark side. That's what I do. I did, however, keep The Witness because I really want it to come to Linux. :S:

This.
I don't like the PvP part of a lot of games. I played them for a while but most of the times I ended up with steamrolls.
Enemy team has 3 elite players - your team gets pulverized , doesn't matter how good you play
Your team has 3 elite player - your team obliterates the enemy before you even have a chance to do anything
No thank you. Give me good PVE and lore I can enjoy.

Yes, there is latency. About rbdoom3 i saw a screenshot of it working in extended mode. But on direct mode crash. Maybe only works on extended mode.. no idea.
Btw, vive on linux is not evolving, nvidia driver vulkan beta with direct mode won't compile on kernel 4.10 without patching it manualy. They didn't update the driver patched, dunno why. That driver is a must to work with vive. Valve is updating steamVR but all patches are for windows, directX. Zero stuff for opengl, vulkan and linux. I'm glad to know that serious sam team is pushing it at their way. Thank you guys! :*
