Let me abuse this occasion to ask something...

I started to play some Hitman last weekend, and I still wonder how I would enjoy it. I played the first training mission doing most of the tasks. But hey, it's not hard to place explosives at a place you know your target will be going to - because he went there every single time you already tried the mission! It feels so unrealistic, so unsatisfying.

Then I tried the last exam, and there are these "occasions" (or whatever they are called in the English). When enabling occasion display fully, I feel I'm just icon hunting. Having enabled them minimally, I didn't find the airplane hold to manipulate. Disabling them fully I guess I wouldn't find out the complex ways to kill a target.

So, what are you doing? How are you playing and enjoying Hitman? (The normal game, not the elusive targets.)

I actually managed to succeed on the last elusive target, though I failed to get silent assassin. I hope I can silent assassin this target.

And well, Linux is a better OS than Windows in every regard I can think of. The area Windows is ahead is the number of software products available for it, that's really all. Namely games and design software. If we'd be evenly supported by software, nobody in their right mind would still be using Windows.

And yes , I think with proper support Linux can beat windows. It's just we lack software, drivers in some cases and what most low-tech users want : easy eye candy operation.
(Still , I don't hate windows as an OS on principle. It could be good too if MS wasn't a bunch of dicks.)

It's worth mentioning that Valve considers the current version of the Linux SteamVR runtime to be for developers only, unfit for consumer use as of yet. For one, there's still a significant latency problem that needs to be ironed out.

Not true; we also have Munch, Locomancer, Destinations, Dungeon Hero, the Doom 3 VR mod, the Dota 2 VR spectator mode, and Vivecraft. And it's speculated that Spermination can be made to work with some minor modifications to the Linux port.

And OpenGL works, it's just that submitting frames to the compositor from a GLX/EGL context is extremely slow and unoptimized, making it unplayable in most cases. I think Vivecraft is using OpenGL on Linux, and gets away with it due to how simplistic and light Minecraft is on the GPU end. Not sure what Doom 3 is doing.

If you are on a tight budget newer Microsoft Wheel mouse optical mice are cheap and plentiful on eBay etc. Last time I bought one they were £8 each in (as far as I could tell) new condition. They were last made around 2009 and are still really great mice for FPS games. Buttons and scroll wheel will feel a bit cheap if you're used to newer stuff but they work fine and the sensor is solid when USB polling is set to 500/1000hz. Maybe even try a Microsoft intellimouse if extra buttons are a requirement for you.

Anything else I would even consider recommending would be a decent jump up in price (£30+).

Hehe, I've lost hope on Blizzard, they just deeply hate Linux.

In my case, the feeling is mutual. I don't like their games either. They are the only larger publisher I have never bought a game from. I couldn't care less if they ever support Linux. But as far as Overwatch goes, wasn't it supposed to run in one of the newer WINE patches just nicely?

Hi,

I played it a little, it's very unstable, i got lots of crash, mouse becomes unreactive ingame (but not in menu), terrible clipping, some GUI horror... but at same time, it feels attractive, so i will keep an eye on it and try more.

Well, pretty much the same people who do not bother checking the original publishers of Feral's previous Linux ports... Expecting Feral to come up with an EA or Bethesda port out of blue extremely unlikely; yet some naives keep crying for Battlefield and Skyrim... Hack, we have a useful tool called SteamDB which indicates potential Feral ports in 10 km, yet some wishes for mobile games or console games... It looks like Linux gaming extended to a point which includes "average gamers" who usually do not bother investigating. For some point of view, it is not a bad thing but seeing same wishes for every Feral tease makes me tired.

Sega, Square Enix, Codemasters, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, 2K Games are the publishers that Feral has contracts with. Please keep your expectations realistic.
