Valve have changed how gifting games works

Gift it to me? ;)
No, seriously: I don't know.
Except for developers with their own store, of course.

The 'Razer DeathAdder Chroma' is quite possibly the nicest mouse I've ever owned
By Pompesdesky, 5 May 2017 at 9:45 am UTC

Quoting: 14Use the right tool for the job. I have the Nyth and it's just about perfect. I have large hands, so I use the wider attachment piece on the side. I like several side buttons, but I don't need all 12. The Nyth allowed me to put a blank strip in the middle so I can grip the mouse as hard as I want without mistakenly hitting buttons. The far rear buttons are too hard to quickly reach, so I have the double-wide buttons in those spaces. So, I end up having six buttons on the side. They get a lot of use in, yes, MMO GAMES, as well as FPS. Get used to switching weapons using mouse buttons and the keyboard becomes too slow.

So yeah, the Nyth deserves "MMO" and "gamer" labels.

Before the Nyth, I had the Logitech G600 and the Razer Naga before that. I thought that the Logitech was a really, really good mouse, but after about a year, my hand started hurting because of the way you have to grip the G600. Since there are three main click buttons instead of two, you lose the 'ring finger' to grip the right side of the mouse, leaving only your pinky. After about a year of my pinky doing the heavy lifting, I couldn't take it anymore. It was a bummer. That was the only reason I switched to the Nyth.

Hi 14,
I'm using a G600 since a couple of years and I'm really happy with the buttons that I use in FPS games to quickly switch between weapons or do some actions. However it's a little too narrow for me and I'm not holding it straight (it rests a bit sideways in my hand). I just discovered the Nyth reading your post and I'm really interested in it. How's the software support for it under Linux ? Does Roccat provide something to configure it or is there a non-official Linux tool that does the trick ?

Actually it won't show up on your library, it will be refunded.

I completely mis-read that bit didn't I :-)

I hope that this won't hinder the possibility to receive uncensored or unavailable Steam games through gifts (I got an uncensored Half Life that way a few years ago). Although I don't know if this ever worked with unavailable games because I didn't have a need to try that yet.

I had to switch my mouse about 3 months ago. My MX518 finally died after 7 years of daily usage, much to my grief. Ended up switching to G402 as I've seen people commenting that it's the next closest thing. Having used various mice from various companies (including Razer Deathadder), I still think MX518 was the best one out there. Overall I prefer Logitech over Razer.

That does not work.
I have a group of 4-5 friends back home.
Sometimes we buy games for each other on humble to share and play online (especially on sale)
Numerous times we were limited to buying ONLY 2 copies each from Humble.

Feral Interactive are teasing something, again
By rea987, 5 May 2017 at 7:58 am UTC

I would love to say original Dawn of War; but given the fact that there are at least 5 Feral related branches of Dawn of War III on SteamDB, it is most probably DoW3.

https://steamdb.info/app/285190/depots/

I don't find DoW3 extremely bad but I would rather prefer playing the original DoW online.

Quoting: BeemerAs long as this is implemented, I'll only be buying games for myself from now on. That means no more four-packs either to give out copies later.

Well, the new system may not cover current 4-pack games. Those packs are designed to gift them later. But, two/three/four-pack system would be revamped as well; that might clarify your fears...

Quoting: nitroflowSpace Hulk: Deathwing would also be cool, and the shooting sound is close to one of the weapons in that game too.

I didn't played the Space Hulk: Deathwing, but from what I read, the game is really bad. Stupid AI, many bugs and others things, that are making it unplayable, so I rather see DoW 3 instead of Space Hulk. But what I want to see on Linux is Battlefleet Gothic.

Quoting: Kuduzkehpanwill it be platform independent multiplayer ? or will it be just like CoH 2 and DoW 2

This mostly depends how the multiplayer code is done. If the game uses dedicated servers than probably yes, but if the network code will be same as in Space Marine or DoW 2 than probably no.
I didn't played the DoW 3, so I'm unable to say if the Relic has better multiplayer code than in DoW 2.

The game now has a demo on Steam. I played it yesterday (and wondered if I should write an article, just to find out there already is one :) ). It's really leaned to Xcom, which I consider a good thing. The graphics remind me of Torchlight. I do like the environmental interactions, it adds nicely.

If you like Serious Sam enough to have that be your only VR game for the time being, then SteamVR for Linux is worth it. I imagine it'll really pick up once OpenGL VR performance is fixed up and OpenGL applications can use SteamVR.

For now, they need to be ported to Vulkan.

I found that it worked well on my machine (i7 4790 with GTX 1060) and I really enjoyed the gameplay. Steam Controller worked well on it too. I supported it at the $59 level and hope they get it done.

It is disappointing that there's 4K support on Windows but only 1080p support on Linux. I'm Kickstarting it for the Linux support but unless this changes I'll end up (*shock*) playing it on Windows.

Yes exactly.

AMD Vulkan driver 'radv' is now 'effectively a pass' for conformance
By Shmerl, 5 May 2017 at 1:42 am UTC Likes: 1

Good to see such fast progress. I hope optimizations will be the next logical step.

Regarding two drivers. Once AMD will open source their Vulkan implementation, there is really no reason for distros not to provide it as an option. Let the user decide what performs better, radv or AMD Vulkan.

I do thing that the gift to inventory while it can be useful for kind of users in some kind of scenarios is actually confusing for the majority of the Steam users. I do have some games sitting in my inventory but I don't care about that feature going away.

Well, my preference would be for it to be DOOM (2016) which does have chain-guns in game. A little video example:

However, general opinion is that it is going to be DoW 3, and my bet is on that being the actual release.

Something that comes to mind, on reading this:

Assume you have a load of 4-pack game gifts (for instance) lying in your inventory because you haven't gifted them 'yet'. Then under this scheme you gift them to someone, and that person declines the gift. So the rejected gifted game gets put back into your Steam account as Wallet Credit.

1) Is it definitely going to work that way? (Or am I missing something.)

2) If I buy a 4-pack game for £10. The single game is £4 (say). I then 'gift' and get the 3 gifted games rejected by the persons I gifted them to. Then that would mean I get £7.50 of Wallet Credit back in my account instead? Is "that" how it would work? Sounds like a system which is open to "abuse".

On the topic, I'll keep an open optimistic mind regarding Atom RPG, although I have to agree, the lighting doesn't look very good. Still, hoping they improve on that and willing to overlook it if the game itself is solid.

they need an solution to people who want to gift an person from an different country even it if mean paying more because the game is more expensive there.
