ATOM, an RPG inspired by Fallout is on Kickstarter, Linux demo available
By Geppeto35, 4 May 2017 at 2:26 pm UTC

Nice news. Looks and sounds very good. Will try demo this evening.

One of the character class should be stalker as in the so-impressive novel from Arkady and Boris Strugatsky (if you don't know what to read, try it)

I hope they will hit the second goal to get the crafting system ^^

So is it open-world, or is it like Wasteland 2? Because Wasteland 2 really isn't open-world.

Did not saw it was a movie. Was guessing far cry primal because of the name into the rock, but with the animation, it could be Doom or maybe even better Quake Champions? BF1 would be ace as well.

As mentioned by someone else, Steam Audio is not in-game audio on Steam games, it's an entirely new thing. I urge you to click the more info link ;)

The Github Site have a Hacking Warning and the Steamcommunity Site don't works.
Huh? Steamcommunity works fine for me, as for "hacking warning", no idea what you're talking about :)

https://valvesoftware.github.io/steam-audio/ was reported as a hacked site. Opera blocks this site (reported by netcraft). I checked this site on Netcraft: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report?url=https://valvesoftware.github.io/steam-audio/ so Netcraft say it's risky.

and http://steamcommunity.com/games/250820/announcements/detail/1292941199999967977 brings this error:

The Unity forums were hacked, but they say no passwords were taken
By Beamboom, 4 May 2017 at 12:59 pm UTC

Quoting: KimyrielleI do otherwise agree with you that we need something better than static passwords.

I am however doubtful that you'll like the tech that will replace it, in regards to your privacy concerns. :)

By all means, the privacy concerns regarding internet technology is massive. It can not be overstated. I'm with you there. It's gigantic, and almost impossible to imagine the world will ever be the same again in regards to those questions. But from a pragmatic perspective, I see this as unavoidable.

From a pure security perspective, and from a service providers perspective more than consumer perspective, I'm afraid we just have to realize that the less dependence on user decisions (and with that, privacy) the better. Biometric scans (voice, fingerprint, retina etc) are for example something that I expect will become a lot more common means for identification also for internet services. It's already common on the mobile phones, all that is needed is to extend that usage. And it's in excessive use on modern airports (face recognition).

But yeah - it will become harder and harder to remain anonymous, or to even control the information about you out there. And the morale and ethical questions around this are of course huge.

PS: I never started using Linux "to escape MS's monopoly" - I did it because it's simply the better OS for my line of work. ;)

I get Doom vibes. The lava glow in the Feral letters at the end there? Lot's of lava in Doom. The weapon is of course the chaingun.

Please please... Let it be Doom.

Impressive. Even my squalling inner cynic stares with mouth agape, stunned to silence. I'm downloading it even as I type these words. I don't have money to gamble with (i.e. lose) so I'll avoid the back-alley crapshoot that is Kickstarter. I will wishlist and follow this ... possibly even buy it while it's still in Early Access, if it ever is in Early Access.

I think it's Dawn of War 3, the sound of the gunfire is very similar to the imperial knight solaria from DoW 3.

Just for comparision View video on youtube.com time 5:46.

this is the dream of most of the linux gamers BUT i think it will never happen.

the problem with linux games its FPS like call of duty , battlefield 1 and.......

i think this big boys and frostbite engine will never be for linux .

with all the respect to feral interactive this games that i mention this is the most wanted list for linux (i think) and not mad max,Tomb Raider,Alien Isolation.

if feral interactive want to change something in the linux world they must do it with the big boys

The CEO at Dice want to bring there games to Linux. That why they started to test mantel. But they are looked by EA. So If dice break free from ea We may see battlefiled on linux
