Feral Interactive have released a new teaser for a Linux & Mac port to come

Quoting: Teal1500A lot of people think its shadow warrior 2.

I really hope it is. How long does it usually take for Feral to move the game from "soon" to "very soon" and etc.?
I don't understand why people think so. It makes absolute no sense, because it is nearly impossible that Feral would port this game. This developer and publisher already ported the first part to Linux. How likely is it that Feral now makes the port for the second part? Very unlikely.

How do you know if it's likely or not? Flying Wild Hog used external developers to port Shadow Warrior (Aaron Melcher and initially Edward Rudd). Then supposedly Leszek Godlewski who used to port various games was working for them, but then he announced that he isn't working on Linux games anymore. We have no direct information that FWH have any Linux developers in-house (unless you've seen otherwise?). So why can't they hire Feral to do it?

AI is the last major hurdle for OpenTomb from what I'm seeing.

Quoting: EikeI always got mixed feelings with recreating stuff we already have, just in open source, which doesn't even result in something completely open as it still needs the assets. I mean, of course it's impressive, but...

Look at it this way: Having a free engine (or two in this case) is, literally, the best way to preserve these games for future generations. They are also much more friendly to modders than proprietary engines ever can be.

Had this issue this morning, but not with games, with Remmina b/c of FreeRDP. I tried creating a symlink for pointing to the older version, but it didnt work. Luckily about an hour after this, the FreeRDP rebuild was published and another pacman -Syu resolved the issue for me. There were about 50 other updates that got pushed at the same time for me, Im assuming for the same rebuild.

This is about solving a riddle and not about what you personally want.

I personally would love to see GTA V ported. If I search for 茶 and GTA V I get a lot results. Also the 茶 looks like V - somehow. It's GTA V! Hooray, Hooray!! Excuse my sarcasm, but it's just too funny.

"A riddle is a statement or question or phrase having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved. Riddles are of two types: enigmas, which are problems generally expressed in metaphorical or allegorical language that require ingenuity and careful thinking for their solution, and conundra, which are questions relying for their effects on punning in either the question or the answer."

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddle

Well considering they didn't do the first port in house, i think its pretty likely, and it was only one guy who ported the first game, and shadow warrior 2 is way more serious of a game to port, its probably better to put it in the hands of people that know what there doing, not saying the dev's don't know what there doing, But we'll have to wait and see.

I can't test this, because I don't have the games but do you have openssl-1.0 installed?

For me, this came as a new dependency of some other packages like nodejs.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTYou want an Open Source AAA game with Open World etc? Why? Just why?

Because it's fun. And because it's something missing in the open source world.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTGo for a commercial game and have fun with it!

I do, I do.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTAAA games do cost millions of Euro, developers spend thousands of hours programming and designing those.

So do other things done as open source, including but not limited to the development of kernels, web servers, browsers and office suites.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTHow should that be done in spare time?

I don't know if it's realistic. Probably lots of people would need to work together.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTI do love those engines for existing games if they're done well. "Return to the Roots" (Siedler 2 remake) is one example of a very well working engine. I haven't checked out anything Tomb Raider related yet.

I don't get rewriting something that already exists and already works.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTAlso, you might only like those games of you have played them in your childhood. It's not meant for modern times kiddies. (;

I might be too old for those modern games like Siedler or Tomb Raider... :p

Well, I have gotten to 99% completion on this game and can confirm: It is great. I have put in a lot of hours and the game has been perfect on my Nvidia card. To address Liam's comments:

Yes, save points are far between. However, if you exit the game it saves your state. When you restart you begin at the last bench, but you don't lose any story/character progress.

The game is a mix of modern design with a few things that give old-school difficulty. I don't want to say the game is too hard, since most of it is completely fair. However, a few scattered optional areas are brutal (I can't finish the last 1% after 40+ hours). These things do not affect the main story ending(s), so don't worry that the devs are being unfair. They are completely optional. As with many metroidvanias, you can learn the enemy actions and adapt so battles that seemed hard at first get much easier with practice.

The other difficulty is mapping. You have to explore new areas without a map until you find the map-maker in the section. At first I was annoyed, but then I came to appreciate having to really pay attention to where I was going.

The graphics are great, the gameplay is smooth and the music is awesome. I went to BandCamp and bought the soundtrack:

Just one warning, steam achievements are still not working on Linux. However, the game itself tracks achievements. I haven't experienced any of the stutter that windows players have mentioned.

The world is intricate and handmade. I won't say it is as massive as Knytt Underground, but it reminded me of that in some ways.

For an interim fix, you could put in a symlink from the new libcrypto to the old name. Not at home at moment, so I can't test this myself.

AAA games do cost millions of Euro, developers spend thousands of hours programming and designing those. How should that be done in spare time? Also people do this just for fun, so having a tight schedule everyone needs to follow won't work. Having a lot of people working on it without even meeting once on their lifetime will make things even more complicated. One of the best examples is 0a.d. which hast great potential but has performance issues, bugs as well as a lack of assets. Don't get me wrong, from my personal perspective of a developer I do love what they do, but seriously, this game feels very different to e.g. Age of Empires which inspired them once.

No it won't. If anyone have more than one account, they can easy disconnect from one account and connect it for second and again again and again. This takes only 1-2 minuts. So I think they not fighting with players who playing on not your's MMR , but fight with bots and farms of boosting account and items farms in China and Russia.
No, it gives the removed number a three month waiting period. I have clarified that in the article.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think de-linking a phone number requires a cool down period before linking it to another account. I think that was explained somewhere in the announcement. So unless you have several phone numbers, you cannot use regularly several Dota/Steam accounts.

Quoting: razing32Good review.
Curios how long the game is and if there is a possibility to add community made level packs.
Would add more playability.

The game is 72 levels long. Towards the end, the puzzles grow very difficult, so if you like a real challenge, I'm sure the game will feel long enough.

For less hardcore players, I'd estimate that there are about 40-50 levels that can be solved with a (relatively) casual approach.

I have considered supporting community made levels, yes. I'd just have to make an user friendly level editor first.

Considering the game is from Russian devs it's not a coincidence that the name is a cross-language euphemism joke for this. From the Steam reviews it seems that the game contains a lot of references, jokes and memes, so the core gameplay mechanic isn't that important. I might give it a try.
