Reminds me of good ol' Gta2 , when you were going round the city doing a mission in a mob district where the mob hated you and every other person on the street was shooting at your car.
Man , fun old memories :)

I found it very hard to direct/time my jumps, even when pointing the camera downward so I could see the character's feet. Pity. Maybe it's improved since then, though I'm not sure it's not just me being a 3D klutz.

suckers customers and then raise the price as the game nears completion (if it ever gets that far).

Guess I should really give it another try. Have a bad taste in my mouth from last time.
Years back I fired it up, figured out the interface a bit, built a couple new farms and a couple of javelineers or something, and just as I was starting to get the feel of that a bunch of enemy warriors showed up out of nowhere and wiped out my village. The numbers weren't even close. So I was like "OK, if my attempts to start figuring out how to play are going to be interrupted every five minutes by being wiped out and having to start over, I have other things to do," and haven't yet been back. But things are probably quite different by now.

Have just completed the demo and found it a very enjoyable game. Specular Lighting selected caused my game to crash but apart from that the game ran smoothly and without a hitch. Recommended :-)

I'm Minetest all the way! It runs better on weaker hardware and won't go anywhere regardless of what Microsoft wants to do. I would like to see more united efforts to create mods to introduce features that have become standard in Minecraft, though.

Brawl of Ages, an online 1v1 strategy game from the creators of Strife, it's free too
By ZekThePenguin, 18 April 2017 at 6:05 pm UTC
Absolutely! S2 makes some good games, but they really need to work harder at supporting and promoting them! Personally, I think it would be awesome to see S2 open source their older games (like Savage and Heroes of Newerth) so the community itself could support the games.

Quoting: KohlyKohlI'm a little weary of S2 and how they handled Strife. Can they handle the match making this time around? So far the match making has been great and I hope they can keep this up.

Quoting: Nor MantisI am hoping in the future GoL and LoL meld together on one big site. I mean, shared logins, shared forums, links at the top leading to each page, etc. I understand going this route and somethings need to be seperate. But one large site covering everyhting Linux would be great in my opinion. When asked about it, many where concerned about them being all one big site. I decided to keep them separate so no issues affecting one affect the other. It also means I can focus on one when I want to.

Feral Interactive are having a big Easter sale
By g000h, 18 April 2017 at 3:54 pm UTC
By g000h, 18 April 2017 at 3:54 pm UTC
In my case, I buy from lots of games companies. I'm doing my bit to pay for Linux gaming, supporting Feral and many others. I wasn't going to buy DiRT Rally at 50% off. However, as part of Humble Monthly subscription, with a selection of other titles - I'm willing to pay the subscription price.
What would you prefer:
- Feral getting zero from me, with me not buying a game that I am so-so about?
- Feral getting a smaller amount for DiRT Rally, as part of the Humble Monthly?
(It was a rhetorical question, pretty obvious what the answer is going to be!)
The comment earlier by "wojtek88" regarding Steam Machines - It does deviate from this Feral Big Easter Sale post - BUT it did strike a cord with me. I decided to follow up that comment by hunting out for Steam Machines sold in the UK (where I live). Here is my finding, and I think GOL should probably consider write a new article discussing it:
- There are very very few manufacturers selling Steam Machines.
- Of those few, the Steam Machines are pretty expensive - The typical price is ~ £1200.
- At that price, one could build a BETTER PC running SteamOS (or Linux). Or pay much less for similar spec.

On a side note.... I like that you started the gaming segment of Linux Voice with 0 A.D. and The Battle For Wesnoth!
Quoting: eloThey are also 100% separate sites, so they are not one and the same :), so it's not an essential feature.Well, they are a family of sites now, and those usually share the same account, like the Mobile Nations sites. I hardly ever log in nowadays, but it would be nice to have the same account. But it's even better that it is not being half-baked!
