As the reporter for the bug for The Witness I can safely say the game is quite playable using the game's medium settings with MSAA turned off. You'll still see some graphical glitches when it comes to the trees, grass, and the clouds but you can interact with the puzzles now and walk around.

Wine 2.6 give many interesting issues in DX11 related as precompile shaders for compute shaders (tomb raider DX11 could be afffected by this)
And other things

Does anyone know whether there are efforts to run Elite: Dangerous under Wine? Would that be realistic at all?
It only reach Garbage in all tests:
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=16405
:(
Anyone know better?
After giving up the Mac, I doubt Frontier is doing anything in the direction of Linux.
Elite was my absolute favorite game for a very long time. First played it on the C64, the other parts under DOS. I would love to play E: D.

That was a well thought out response. Guess my point was rushed so allow me to try and rectify a bit.
I feel that Microsoft with their store and their nature is leaning more towards monopoly.
I'm not sure what the demographics look like , but I have a feeling a lot of the people playing would just go with it , especially kids.
Your argument for the mods is indeed interesting as I have not properly considered them and that anything that makes the game unplayable on Linux and breaks Java also breaks all the mods the community loves, so it could be the saving grace that keeps MS from pulling the plug on it remaining multi platform.
I have no doubt it would go away , but if people can still buy it and host private servers/add mods , it has a lot of lifespan even if official support wanes. And there are many games that get community patches and love and this one would definitely be a strong candidate.
No conspiracy theory as I despise those.
Just some healthy cynicism when it comes to MS and everything they touch.

Quoting: LarianQuoting: razing32If people keep playing on Winblows and Android , they endanger nothing. (pricks)I don't know... to peel Minecraft away from Linux would require that they kill the Java dependency. A way to do that would be to rewrite the code in some other language that doesn't support our OS (such as C#). The only problem with this is they'd be setting the community on fire when they did so. All the mods and various bolt-on enhancements would just stop working, and that would essentially kill the game that they paid Notch so much money for. I believe that community is what keeps Minecraft relevant. That community following, or rather the lack of it, is also why other clones of it aren't as successful.
Of course, this isn't all sunshine and roses. Minecraft will go away one day. I don't know when, but I do believe I know how. Eventually the ROI on maintaining the game will dwindle to the point that it is no longer reasonable or profitable to maintain it. Interest will wane, and new subscribers won't be able to keep the game afloat financially. On that day, whoever owns the Minecraft IP will either try to sell it off or just pull the plug. Long live Minecraft.
TL;DR - I don't think they're crazy enough to mess with Minecraft in a way that hurts Linux users because it would hurt everyone else too. At least not while the IP is still so lucrative.

I actually think it is Bajonetta. This makes perfect sense because it is SEGA.
They have ported it to Windows and will bring it over Feral for the Mac and Linux. If it's going well, it certainly will not be the last one. Bajonetta 2 is currently only available for Wii U. What a waste. :)

The UNIGINE engine will get Vulkan support this year
By pete910, 13 April 2017 at 4:03 pm UTC
Going on the results I've seen it makes little difference on CPU.
If you look at the bench thread you have a 980ti with a AMD8320e beating the same card with a intel 5960, Rather a large difference don't you think.
Pretty sure a 5960 in vastly superior to a 8320e :P
By pete910, 13 April 2017 at 4:03 pm UTC
Quoting: EhvisFrom the results thread it is obvious that even at low fps, the results are still very dependent on the CPU. This suggests that a decent gain should be possible with Vulkan.

I tested it last and previous week, and i didn't like it. I feel the moves are very lacking, and the targeting and line of sight systems not so suitable for this kind of game. Could be good after some patching however.

Quoting: GrimfistSadly they do not support Vulkan, would really like to see a good Vulkan Benchmark for Linux.I doubt it has anything to do with your choice of distro. Every benchmark I was able to find shows that Ubuntu and Antergos have essentially identical performance. No doubt your issue lies elsewhere.
Just ran it yesterday evening on 1080p extreme preset. My machine got only 1100-somthing score, whereas HexDSLs machine (nearly exact same hardware, same gpu, same driver) got over 1500. Only difference so far was, he uses Antergos and I still use Ubuntu 16.04. So maybe this was another coffin nail for Ubuntu.
F1 2016 won't be coming to Linux, as sales of F1 2015 weren't strong enough

As somebody who is a major fan of these games, I'll give some insight as to why F1 2015 never sold well and why not bringing F1 2016 to Linux is a bad call from Feral.
F1 2015 never sold well on any platform. The game itself was lacking. Engine wise the step up from EGO (The engine used from DiRT 2 up until Grid Autosport) to EGO 2 (Used in F1 2015-2016 and DiRT Rally) was great. Getting high quality looks and better handling cars. However, because of this major engine change, getting the cars coded within 6 months (From the start of the 2015 season, when they get to know the "pecking order" of the grid) meant that there pretty much wasn't anything in the game. Career mode was gone, instead replaced with "championship season" where you played as one of the drivers from the grid in a full season of F1 in order to win the championship. Time trial was basic, there were no game modes (Hell, even 2014 had more content and that was just 2013 with new cars and no classic mode) specific to that game. Single race was pretty basic. The only saving grace was that because 2014 didn't come out on next gen, you got both the 2015 and 2014 seasons available. Because of this, sales after the first week or so were poor and the game wasn't very well received, with reviewers saying that it was basically a tech demo for EGO 2.
Bring on 2016, The best game in the series. As well as refining EGO 2 using what they had learned from DiRT Rally and F1 2015. They were able to deliver a large amounts of features. Career mode was back, and better than ever before. Being able to race across 10 seasons improving your car along the way. You also still had he championship season and the "pro" (All assists turned off and locked in cockpit cam) championship season available. As well as steam workshop support for setups on PC. The online wasn't broken either, which was a BIG problem in F1 2015 on all platforms. Sales of F1 2016 were much better. The game received both critical praise and praise among players as the best version of a Codemasters F1 game yet. Sales numbers are starting to reflect this
So it's nothing to do with Feral's porting, or the Linux community. It was all down to the game. Nobody was willing to part with $60 of their hard earned cash for what was essentially a tech demo. That's why it never sold well. I think that Feral should give F1 2016 a chance, a lot more people would buy it simply because there's more there.
It's a shame, as this is one of two games that makes me loose one of my hard drives to Windows.

I enjoy this a lot more than Clash Royale.
I'm a little weary of S2 and how they handled Strife. Can they handle the match making this time around? So far the match making has been great and I hope they can keep this up.
I did run into a bug in full screen. When the match ended it would exit to the menu at a lower resolution. Playing in windowed mode fixed this.

More important than the benchmark getting Vulkan is the engine itself getting Vulkan support. Granted, Unigine-powered games are kinda rare, but it will still be nice to have that option in there.

Do other Vulkan games work for you on 381? I have a 1080 and I can't run SteamVR, Mad Max or Serious Sam Fusion for longer than 5 minutes on the 381 series. It seems to be just broken across all games and not game specific.
I'm really not sure how that got past Nvidia QA...
