I will always guess Skyrim. No matter what the hint, it means Skyrim.

You're all wrong, it's Sega Bass Fishing, simply because you have to Wade into the rivers to catch the fish. I'm hoping it's Total War: Shogun 2 or Shadow Warrior 2.

AMDGPU-PRO 17.10 driver released

Quoting: mas886Is there any reason why should I use PRO drivers instead of the open ones?

Well, it allows you to use your GPU as compute device for Cycles in Blender, for example. Or use filmic-blender. =)

But open driver is better for gaming in my case. =) Dirt Showdown, Hitman, Serious Sam and Mad Max work more smoothly with it.

If you're not interested with CAD like applications ; no. Stick with open source ones.

If it winds up being Total War: Shogun 2, that's not my jam, but that's cool. If it winds up being Shadow Warrior 2, I'll be happy. If it winds up being NieR: Automata, I will need to change my tidy whities. Imagine getting a AAA Japanese game, and not just any AAA Japanese game, a Platinum game, on Linux? That would be MONUMENTAL.

Pray for Death, a classic fighting game has been packaged up with DOSBox on GOG

Saw a video on YT and it looks a bit like One Must Fall 2097 (I still play through that once a year) so maybe I have to check it out.

Shit I remember this game. Instant nostalgia. Can't remember how good it was now though.

Quoting: Mountain ManI think once I get some more cash to spend, I'll be giving a bunch of it to Paradox. Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, and Stellaris all have juicy new content that I want to buy!
I did basically this the last two weeks (yay new job and more disposable income! :) ). Picked up HoI IV and Stellaris both of which I've been wanting to get since they came out, along with Together for Victory, all the Stellaris DLCs, and pre-ordered Mandate of Heaven and Utopia.

Key reseller G2A is being told to clean up their act, or lose AAA publishing deals
By zimplex1, 7 April 2017 at 8:40 pm UTC Likes: 1

I'm going to be honest, I have never had an issue buying from G2A. I try not to use them to buy games very often, as I like to support devs when I can. However I can't really condemn their shady practices without being a hypocrite so... yeah.

Nier: Automata makes more sense to me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/640a9a/new_ping_on_the_feral_radar_made_to_wade_for/dfytey5/

The Reddit poster forgot Warhammer 40k, published by THQ, but no exception to the rule. Feral porting games from big publishers. Everything else would make little sense economically, I think. Nier: Automata is another blockbuster. Even with only 0,8% of the market you can make a lot of extra sells. They have sold already one million copies. But I'm just guessing. This radar is a fun thing. :)

Fair enough. This is the new starting area they're building for R41 that is as large as any of the newer scenes, performance work will continue with every release from now on and there will be another free trial next month if you want to check it out again.

Canonical drop the Unity desktop environment for Ubuntu favour of going back to GNOME

QuoteQuestion: Is there any interest in me doing a separate site to cover general Linux news?

I think there are a lot of quality sites out there already covering Linux news generally. There aren't a lot of sites like this that give really high quality Linux gaming news. I'd vote to stay focused on this as it fills a really specific and growing need. When there is a really big story like this, you'll probably cover it anyway since it does have implications for Linux gaming. No harm in throwing in some general Linux ecosystem news into the mix of this site, but I could see harm in splitting your resources by going to broad.

Quoting: snizzoYes please. Just don't be like phoronix and turn this website into a kde, mesa, manjaro, amd etc. zealots center. It's so annoying just reading over 9000 news about the latest commit on amd mesa and all of the hate towards nvidia in general (given that's still the best vendor hardware/software for gaming on linux).
So basically you are complaining that Phoronix covers topics that you hate? And then you turn around and complain about other people being haters?

I think you need to do a little introspection here.

Thanks for your detailed answer. I've spend some time today in the free trial, and i feel the same as before : my main concern is the claustrophobic feeling. Way too much loading screens, and way too long. I had a similar feeling with Age of Conan in a way, but in SOTA it feels worst.

To the question of a general linux news site: I think it depends on your personal resources, Liam.
If you think you can make a high-quality site without impairing the quality of gamingonlinux at the same time I'd give it a go. I think there's also a "market" for that too.
For example, I currently use omgubuntu for general linux news, because the site is well done and the information given isn't too techy. However, Joey Sneddon pointed out in one of his recent posts that the majority of his readers are actually using Arch linux based distributions, not ubuntu-based ones. Since you became such a fan of Antergos recently, I bet you could easily do something like an OMG! Arch! - Website. That would be super awesome.
On the other hand, given the information in your latest post concerning Patreon funding, I got the Impression that you already commit quite a large amount of your time to gamingonlinux. In the end I think it really depends on the question if you think you have the extra time to do a website like this and can live up to your own quality standard with it.
