I just deleted a long rant I wrote here about how the Broken Sword games are not anywhere else.

At the time that article was written, the Broken Sword games were not in the Humble Store. In fact, you couldn't get the games for Linux anywhere else except Steam (and the second game in the Humble Bundle). I know, I checked. (Which is the reason Liam wrote "The Humble Bundle is the only place right now to get Broken Sword 2 for Linux outside of steam".)

This has actually changed now. The games are now in the Humble Store. :)

Exactly, what I write about is 99% true at the time - barring oversights.

GOL is not a steam-only place, but we focus on it heavily because developers do.

Quoting: GuestDesura still crashes every time when loading a game page, after several months, so why mention them? They don’t even care.

Indeed, they new Linux client is being worked on though, once the new Windows version is out the Linux one will be worked on.

Seemed to work pretty well for me, considering the warning. Played through the intro level no problem but crashed to desktop at the start of the next.

Looks like it'll be a fun game when it's polished up and a steal at that price.

Not my point, I posted a tip to save bandwidth.

FYEAH!!!
I found this out on the Star Citizen forums and PAX recording before coming here but YESS!! I had to come here to express my excitement too =) Thanks Liam! Just a tip, if you had time you could have embedded/linked the source for a better article!

Also about pricing, yes Linux games are usually cheaper. Yes, there's rarely games that are AAA in terms of quality and budget on Linux, and Star Citizen is probably AAAA in terms of features and quality imho so it's totally worth it (and savings from having no publisher pass onto us, as well as feed more dev monies!). Yes, Linux gamers are willing to spend a lot of money as seen in Humble Bundle. Yes, the rise of Linux is now! >=D

Quotes (copied from the Linux thread in RSI forums): "(...) by the way, we'll gonna be supporting Linux."
"We'll be on Linux (...) we like it. I think most engineers will tell you that they prefer Linux (...) to Windows actually, especially in the back-end server world." during the QA, right after the ill-informed Sony guy.

1st quote is at 21:45 (already skipped to in that video link above by Jörmungandur.
2nd quote is at 45:20 (question & answer). CR also says "all the major engines are supporting Linux" at [47:25]. =)
(video is embedded above by two other ppl).

had texture issues: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/3335221527286699866/D9A7196B923F3558FEB799285461FFD633C42A3A/

-turns out it was the texture setting at high. works fine when set to medium

-mouse is little bit jerky (seems some sort of weird mouse smoothing or acceleration)
mouse smoothing option in menus doesnt help

-resolution is always set to 1280x1024 when i start up the game, have to change it every time

other than that seems to work pretty well, except few "loading" freezes

Are More AAA Games Waiting For Steam Machines?
By , 12 April 2014 at 4:31 am UTC

These are on SteamOS now.
Metro Last Light,
Metro 2003.

Confirmed Linux support:
Cryengine 4.
Unreal Engine 4.1.
Starship Citizen.

I know this is not a game, but AMD Mantle will also be opensource and get support on Linux, which theoretically could enable Battlefield 4 to run on Linux. And Thief, runs Mantle. And when Mantle gets Linux support, I hope developers that makes new Mantle supported games will support Linux too.

So I see a bright Linux gaming future.

What's right or wrong in capitalism? Those are some morals you're going to need to work out for yourself lol. I would guess that the developers have already been paid for this game, and that the money they have gotten so far has been enough. Aside from the question of do they need/deserve the money, there is the question of can you afford it, too. If you can't really afford something you should donate a smaller amount, or pirate it. $1 is pretty affordable though, at least for me. ^n.n^

I was mostly concerned about the developers and the revenue Linux gaming produces but since I have no job, and $1 is all I really can afford, I will buy it then.

Liamdawe I like what you are doing with the site, just please stop pushing Steam all the time. These Broken Sword games are yet another example of games available through other distribution methods, yet your tags don't mention them and you straight out put buy on steam widgets in the post. Not everyone likes or uses steam and giving the impression that steam is the only distribution method reduces revenue streams for developers.

Fair call, the article is essentially about these games being available on steam now, so I will concede that point, however there have been many posts that only represent steam as the distribution method and not humble store or desura.
