I paid $1250 for Star Citizen. I will NEVER load the game on any platform except Linux. I want to send a message. I will pay top dollar, and only top dollar for Linux AAA tier space simulator gaming. I own Windows and Macintosh platforms as well, but Linux is the only system I want to game on. This news makes me so happy. I'm a massive fan of Wing Commander. I own every Wing Commander game and when Chris announced Star Citizen. I threw money into it. It's great to see loyalty as a fan rewarded with loyalty from the developer. I look forward to seeing the final game. I've basically been waiting 13 years for this.

Well, Humongous Entertainment was founded by Ron Gilbert (of Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island fame), but I've never played one of this games and I also doubt they are up there with the great 90s adventures.

I remember reading a review of (the first?) one of these from a gaming mag in the early 90s. The seemed to think it was up there with the Monkey Islands and the rest of the best adventure games of the golden age.

Just wanted to say thanks for the mention and to add a couple of points!
We're almost ready to have split screen in there (just a few more days...)
Also you get two copies for the above price so you can give one to a friend and start playing right away :)
If you have any questions about the game let me know :)

Well, for who is interested in turn based strategies and card games, I'm making a free open source one playable right from the browser based on Heroes of Might and Magic 3's combat system, but improved. Check out AncientBeast.com - it has some show stopping bugs atm and I don't have a budget for it, but it's constantly improving none the less.

In 2009, when the brand-new laptop I'd bought had its ATI chip declared "legacy" by ATI, I vowed to never buy another ATI graphics card again. I have been true to that vow. Hell, even the justly-despised Intel graphics have better GNU/Linux support than ATI, still.

That's me and The Banner Saga. The day I can get The Banner Saga on Linux is the day they get my money. It looks like a fantastic game, and I really want to play it, but not until it's on Linux.
I too dislike the Linux stretch goal. I generally don't support games unless it's going to support Linux upfront.

Quoting: GNUzelI say we use this page on the Internet as the beacon that shows Linux users' interest. I would buy that game immediately if I saw it released for Linux. Just like I am buying Goat Simulator the moment the Linux one is for sale.

I am out as well but not because of DayZ or things like that but because of system requirements. My main PC is an AMD E350 with a GeForce 9500GT and well able to run more demanding titles like Xonotic and UT2k4 but I the last time I came across a lot of bad optimized titles like Paranautical Activities or Sir you are being hunted. I am not shure if this is an issue of the graphics engines used but anything that looks identical / worse than UT99 and slows down my AMD E350 will not find its way to my PC.
Don't get me wrong: More games for Linux are great but not if they require much more ressources than equally or better looking games from 6-10 years ago.

Quoting: SpeedsterQuoting: AnonymousHow did you get past the first level? It won't let me build the academy. Just takes the money and does nothing. I've sent them a bug report so we will seeWeird, neither of us ran into that bug yet, with a total of 5 towns started so far (some in easy mode, some in normal). In my main town I've got the academy maxed out to level 5 now...
At first I had problems with a crash on start, but that turned out to be just because I hadn't installed the basic x86 libs yet on this 64-bit install and the stained-glass movie part needed one of them (not an obvious dependency shown with 'ldd', but something in ia32-libs must have been needed because installing them solved the problem).
