It sounds like I struck a chord of an AMD fan :)
Good.
The thing is that for me, as an nvidia user, the number of games that will work is higher than those that work for AMD users. I'm not talking about the native titles... but about the ones that still are not ported and need wine in some form.
If you're fine with a smaller selection of games you can play good for you.
Of course you can twist this again and make it about Linux, but the thing is that while most of the time I do use Linux, I have no issues running Windows when I really need it. I have a feeling you would not do that.
This, again, may be fine for you... it's not fine for me.
Good.

What I meant what natural selection 2 will remain unchanged, since this is a seperate game =)

Geez, I don't know... performance? We're talking about gaming here.
Of course I expect the "it works just fine for me" band wagon to arrive. I mean, somehow you need to justify spending time with this Linux crap and still feel good about it
See how that sounds for you. It is the crux of your own argument.
I only use FOSS drivers for many good and valid reasons, including for all of the gaming that I currently do. I appreciate the fact that I can use my AMD cards the way I want to, which is something I can not currently say for Nvidia.

Not in the Podcast. In the Comments below the Video on YouTube.
But in 13th Podcast they say again that Tropico 5 will come to Linux, but no exact date for it.

Auch weitere Spiele, die gerade in der Entwicklung sind, werden ebenfalls für Linux und Mac erscheinen. Welche das sind, das können wir noch nicht verraten ;-)

Even more games that are currently in development, will also appear for Linux and Mac. Which they are, we can not tell;-)

Intel and AMD both do that, and both contribute to their development. Not really sure what more you're expecting there.

and perfromance never been an issue for me on this game.. it always ran 40+ FPS.. most of the time around 60 at max settings.
the problem is with the loading times.. shader caching and what not..
i dont own windows so i dunno how its done there..but they could use GL_ARB_get_program_binary or similar.. or maybe they do

FOSS drivers are good but dude it not good enough...
By , 15 April 2014 at 7:35 pm UTC
Quoting: GuestQuoting: AnonymousAMD sucks... Mantle is a waste effort when they could just use that time to improve their driver.Mantle served its purpose in pointing out how much overhead there is (or has been) with gaming. We can get an awful lot more out of current machines if that overhead is stripped away. There is a reason DX12 is going the same way as Mantle, and there is a reason for a recent collusion between manufacturers on how to reduce driver overhead when using OpenGL. That benefits everyone, not just AMD (though undoubtedly they get the greatest benefit from it with APU systems). For those reasons alone, Mantle has been successful and worth it to the companies and consumers, regardless of whether it comes out on Linux or not.
I won't be buying another AMD hardware that for sure. Who needs AMD?
Also, AMD & FOSS drivers. Enough said.
FOSS drivers are good but dude it not good enough...

It can get pretty annoying when you have an incompetent commander or when no one in your team wants to be the commander in Natural Selection, but this feature is what makes NS a unique game. If they remove it then they will end up with an average sci-fi FPS and we have more than enough of those available on linux already.

Much more "realistic" than Uplink was -- you do everything from a terminal, but also much more restrictive. Untold didn't have any sandbox mode, and you were almost always against a clock.
Decent game, but still not quite Uplink.

I'm one of the backers of this project and they just sent out a survey that included a section for "Primary Computer OS", with options of "Windows", "Mac OSX", "Linux" and "No Preference". Of course I selected Linux. If you're a backer, make sure you fill out the survey and select Linux! I imagine they'll be looking at that survey while they evaluate adding Linux support.
