No worries then, if some of my LAN companions can't get their own DRM-free copies, we'll share mine.
Why do you say so?

Quoting: SXXThey promised DRM-free to Kickstarter backers and not anyone else. ;)
I just explained reason why they might decide to not sell DRM-free version publicly.

GAE had no changes for months now. There is absolutly no forum activity, so I think this project is dead. GAE still has no working multiplayer and so on, its more some kind of techdemo than somehting ready to play in my opinion.
The Mandate Engine is a one person project based on GAE. Like GAE its not a game( yet), just an engine and I think its VERY experimental has no working multiplayer and so on. I think it focuses on completly different gameplay in the end.
So both projects are really nothing for players looking at their current state.

Quoting: PCCSunriseWhat about Mandate and GAE in the Glest category? Oldstyle Glest is way behind MG, GAE, or Mandate in their respective focuses.

I was overjoyed when they announced last year that their first title would be supporting Linux and have been following with close eyes since. I encourage others to do the same.

Focusing on one platform and porting it afterwards is much harder than writing software for cross-platform usage from the beginning.
Just why do I always get headaches if I hear a game-dev talking about something related to software development?
plx uninstall ... :P

Could be interesting; first person games are a bit saturated at the moment, but if they don't turn it into a shooter, it could definitely stand out.

If you are running under Steam, you should be able to press shift+tab to open overlay and release all grabs temporally.

Quoting: GuestYeah, I didn’t bother with Killing Floor because it grabs the mouse pointer and prevents alt-tab from working (under Xfce, at least). I was surprised than he made that mistake. This is actually bug between X and window manager[1] - when you are requesting mouse grab, it actually locks keyboard as well.

Not so crippled:
DRM THIS!: As well as the Steam version, all $15 pledgers will be offered a DRM-free, caffeine free, gluten free, born free non-Steam version of the PC game to download. This version will have no Steamworks functionality and will support single player and LAN multiplayer only.
A version that can't be played offline looks more crippled to me.

Quoting: SXXAs long as I remembered from Kickstarter campaign they want to use Steamworks for multiplayer so DRM-free version might looks crippled and this will also split player base into two independent groups.

It's one of reasons why some other games don't released as DRM-free and creating/supporting of own multiplayer service can be challenging for any game developer because it's cost money.
By SXX, 31 March 2014 at 10:32 pm UTC
Quoting: Guesta) Technical ramifications to being DRM free? Generally there are technical ramifications to including DRM, not to leaving it out. I'm highly suspicious of that comment. As long as I remembered from Kickstarter campaign they want to use Steamworks for multiplayer so DRM-free version might looks crippled and this will also split player base into two independent groups.
