V-Play Game Engine Supports Linux, Uses Qt Creator IDE

For a game engine, linux support is actually pretty much work, even though having a mac port not too much but still enough considering the different display protocols and sound system. Cash yes, the question is: will it be profit too?

Because of the Open Source Linux drivers I decided to buy a Roccat Konepure early last year and I am a very happy customer!
My thanks go out to Stefan Achatz! You are doing fantastic work! I would only wish that Roccat employs you at least as a contractor...

Unity has a similar, open-source compiler (derived from mesa): https://github.com/aras-p/hlsl2glslfork . Unreal uses the same codebase, but they aren't publishing their proprietary branch at all.
Here's a good overview of cross-API shaders: http://aras-p.info/blog/2014/03/28/cross-platform-shaders-in-2014/

Has anyone noticed that in this bundle there's a game redeemable in GoG.com?
If I'm not worng, Defender's Quest is the first game that HumbleBundle make redeemable via GoG.com (for the moment Windows-only).

The Ryos MK is a mechanical keyboard. They took a little longer than other gaming companies to jump on the mechanical keyboard bandwagon, so the Ryos is kinda new. Looks on par with most other gaming-focused mechanical keyboards, though.
Man, it's good to see these guys (Roccat and Stefan) getting some press. I was using a Razer Mamba when Phoronix first had an article about a gaming peripheral company that has top-notch linux support via open source projects. Finding out that they didn't have any US distributors only slowed me down a little - I was willing to pay $40 shipping (or whatever it was - I don't remember any more) to import a mouse like that. That was the Kone[+].
I just upgraded from the Kone[+] (which was getting a little worn out) to a new Kone Pure (I like the design of the Pure better than that of the XTD), and this time I didn't have to import from another continent - the Microcenter down the street carries Roccat products.
I really want to buy one of the Ryos keyboards, too, but I bought a Truly Ergonomic after starting to develop a bit of emacs pinky. I'm not going back to a standard layout.

Creating good campaigns is difficult, really difficult.
For most studios that means a much longer time to market or/and the need to hire experts... which costs money. This is probably the main reason you see so many sandbox-only indie titles (not saying sandbox games are bad per se). Can't remember which ones, but some studios even admitted that bit in interviews.
BTW, I bought Prison Architect a long time ago and I still hope it will shipped with a great campaign. :)

A few folks have mentioned being confused by the bundle's title, and in retrospect, it probably should've been more explicit. The games in this bundle are not open source. Rather, they are all games that used one or more of the open source tools this bundle donates to. Namely, Haxe, OpenFL, FlashDevelop, and Ren'Py.
We gained a lot from the generosity of these open source communities, and we wanted to return the favor in some way. Humble Bundle not only gives those projects some much-needed money, it also grants them some pretty good exposure!
I'll be honest, I'm one of those pigheaded ignorant people you refer to. I thought Flash was a pretty good choice for a cross-platform game. True, I wanted to target the browser. But later, I also started providing downloadable versions, and I thought Flash was still good enough for what I was trying to build.
However, I wouldn't say this bundle is a meaningless effort. For one thing, this bundle exposes a large number of people to four technologies they might not have heard of. Even if it only inspires 1 of the developers who see it, that's worth it, right? I mean, that's one more developer making truly native, cross-platform games.
I guess my point is, we're better off for this bundle existing than not. Aren't we?

Sure, it enables you to make native versions, but that's sort of meaningless here, isn't it?

Sure, it enables you to make native versions, but that's sort of meaningless here, isn't it? It's not like you couldn't have made your game without Flash. For every developer that used it, it was a conscious and deliberate decision - you went with Flash because you wanted to run in the browser (or because you're a pigheaded ignorant person who thinks Flash is a good platform, see Telepath or BoI). The chances of those same people now choosing a different solution? Oh, I understand *some* might be kind enough to offer a native version, most likely those who end up in a high profile bundle, but it's not like they've suddenly seen the light due to Haxe, and now their rather undemanding games will finally run at a decent framerate on modern computers instead of the present comic strip like experience gamers on Linux have with Flash. It's still going to be Flash. Or worse, HTML5, which is the great equalizer - now everyone suffers poor performance, not just platforms Adobe can't be bothered with due to preparing money smoothies (dollars are still green, right?) and leaving their source code all over the place.
Enough ranting, I'm off to buy Planet Stronghold (again) and donate some money to Ren'Py.

When I built my current rig I went with all Roccat hardware because of their Linux support. It might not be the absolute hands-down best equipment but they deserve my business because of their Linux support and I am not hardcore enough to care about having the top of the line. After using it for 6 months I have no complaints. Stefan, cheers on the work friend.

It's a shame I can't really get my hands on Roccat gear here locally. The only Roccat gear I got my hands on when I discovered Roccat was ok with Linux, was the Roccat Kave. Best sounding gaming headphones out of all the ones I've tried (Razer, SteelSeries,SonicGear,TurtleBeach).
The Kave has worked in all my Ubuntu installations to date. Never an issue with sound quality (plus the Linux drivers seem to give me heavier bass compared to the Windows ones, I don't know why). Only one issue, the headphones are way too heavy. After playing a couple of hours, it gives me a strong headache and a very sore head.
Keep up the good work Stefan Achatz, and thanks Roccat for the Linux love!
