Stranded, A Sci-Fi Point & Click Adventure Now Out For Linux, It's Odd
By avarisclari, 24 March 2014 at 10:15 pm UTC

I actually know someone who worked with this developer on Incursion. It didn't end well, and supposedly he gave the idea to the developer. From what I saw and how I know the guy, he's telling the truth. I know I shouldn't bring hate, I'm just letting you know. Still, while I can't personally support the guy, if you want the game, then do it.

Ground Pounders Strategy Game From 'Sword Of The Stars' Developer Linux Version Now Available
By Liam Dawe, 24 March 2014 at 8:11 pm UTC

Quoting: Dosilwhy can't we have starcraft and C&C style rts's people keep throwing out old board game style strategy games like it's innovative where are the RTS'S!

An RTS like Starcraft would be incredibly expensive to make and indies just don't have that sort of money.

Check out Planetary Annihilation though, it's close.

Earth 2140 Gold Edition RTS Game Linux Version Released
By WorMzy, 24 March 2014 at 6:30 pm UTC

The Steam version still says Mac and Windows support only. I wonder if they're not releasing it on Steam for some reason. :(

IMO there is no need to talk about Nexuiz anymore as it's basically dead (thanks to IllFonic) and its successor Xonotic was mentioned on the article.

Tremulous (although it is now replaced by Unvanquished)

(And of course all the Unreal Tournaments)

Maratis Another Open-Source Game Engine
By , 24 March 2014 at 1:32 pm UTC

Quoting: SabunMaybe the newer version is better, but if it's as difficult to use as when I last tried it I can't regard Maratis as good as Unity 3D or even Leadwerks.
Neither of which run on Linux yet... So your point is invalid. I'd rather use the shittiest of shitty engines than develop games on Windows or Wine.

This is awesome and I plan to follow (and quite likely support) it, but Stencyl also runs on Linux and is a very nice and accessible platform for making 2D games - absolutely comparable to Construct 2.
