So, I'll just leave this here for now :P Seems that when Valve says "soon" they friggin mean it:

Wow, that's super surprising.

Well, it is still a bit early for anyone to get panicky yet. It is not as if Linden Labs has been hostile to Linux in the past, so I think we should just wait and see what happens with regards to everything. That being said, when I have the opportunity I might just download the few games I have on there that are not from Humble Bundle just in case, and I might just wait for a bit before buying anything new. Just in case.

Could be good. Interesting how the things work out. Does current staff at Desura will continue as they were or can we expect eg. quicker auth process (currently only in AUS timezone). Better PR to promote not only new games will be amazing. Will Linux will be a thing ?

Well this is a shocker, I wonder what this means for Linux. A lot of times when companies buy-out someone, the product disappears in 6 months to a year. They recently bought an iPad game, so I'm guessing they were looking for some distribution service.

I'm just gonna throw this out there: I'm guessing that Desura will become a place where you can buy their products and services. I think they will transition away from the Steam-like service it is now, and to something more self-serving.

I think this is a good time to download your stand-alone games from Desura and not buy anything else until their intentions are crystal clear.

Desura really needs a better client, I hope this acquisition improves things.

Quoting: muntdefemsfor the record we'd want to state that LFG & The Fork of Truth was already featured as a Biggie two weeks ago. :D
It did appear as a Biggie, but I realized just now that Linux has been added to base goal instead of a stretch goal (yes wiki is now updated). If I'd known that last week, it probably would appeared under "in the running", but by this time it's rather a long-shot given current performance
http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/1412277313/lfg-the-fork-of-truth/#chart-daily

The goal is just too high; while certainly well known, LFG has about an order of magnitude fewer daily readers than Homestuck, which is likely the project in whose footsteps they wanted to follow. Plus the culture of the fanbase seems different, not so amazingly gung-ho on comic-related collectables that they are begging for the chance to spend all their money on physical goodies. Homestuck had an insane average pledge for a game project, because it was practically a physical goodies project with a game offered as extra incentive. We're talking major emphasis, effort, and expense on the physical reward fulfillment for Homestuck, while LFG kickstarter has forgone physical collectibles altogether.

Not that I'm saying LFG should have gone crazy on the collectibles; like I said, their core backers don't seem like the same kind of fan who is dying to spend hundreds of dollarson limited edition shirts, stickers, plushies. However it does help explain why they haven't been able to follow the same path to success as Homestuck, which is a big outlier in kickstarter history as a hugely funded game not developed by a game development "star" (Chris Roberts, InXile, etc etc)

Nice review man! I wonder what the consumer price for this will be, and more importantly when it'll be out and about for purchase :)

Hey!  Are you one of the devs for Fran Bow?  If so, thanks for making a graphic adventure game for Linux, and welcome to the community!

Thanks! I'm the other coder yeah! Glad you liked it, hope you try out the demo! It's not a .deb as that part needs a bit more haxing and my linux level isn't that high yet, but I got a cool dude helping me out with that!

I don't even remember buying DOTA 2, but there it was in my Windows Steam library, and it's a pretty nifty game; of course, I only boot into Windows about once a week. Linux DOTA 2 will allow me to compete against my nephew.

And get my ass kicked...

Title Bout Championship Boxing 2013 Now Available
By , 10 July 2013 at 12:59 pm UTC

I've been using Title Bout 2013 since it came out and haven't noticed the negative aspects you mentioned. For one thing, I can't see how you could possibly have an excessive number of boxers available, especially if you're running your own AU (alternate universe). When you're moving a fighter along from beginner through to Prime and eventual retirement, you need a plethora of opponents to match him against. One great thing about Title Bout is all the stuff you learn as a result of playing the game and hanging out in the Title Bout Community forum. The folks there range in boxing knowledge from novices who know little about the sport to veteran boxing historians who can tell you the names of every middleweight champion from the original "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey (not the heavyweight) to Marvin Hagler to Sergio Martinez of present day. Once you immerse yourself into the real Title Bout world, yourfamily won't see you for days.

Linus support from the go is great.

Iwonder if my wife would approve of having something looking like a blind termite sprawled in front of his computer all night. But yes, playing immersive games like Amnesia would be a no go for me.

I hope that they update Google maps streetview with this.

Quoting: s_dSecond, American McGee's new Oz-related game project probably deserves a nice paragraph above, in light of the most recent update.

Are you referring to the name change to "Oz Action Adventure"? I think it happened after I wrote the blurb, but it would be good to sneak in a little update...

Yes, precisely that!  It almost certainly happened after your wrote the blurb, and probably slightly before the article went live, and yes, sneaking in a small update is precisely what I'm suggesting :)
