Hotline Miami to hit next month for Linux!

Quoting: titiWhy do people play a game like this ? Maybe I am too old, but this game looks like its from a pre C64 era.
While I hate the recent widespread use of pixel art recently, a game is not ultimately not made by the graphics, but by its gameplay. And for what it's worth, this game has some pretty neat special effects and lots of colour so the graphics aren't actually bland (most 'minimalist' games look truly terrible though).

John Carmack doesn't know anything about Linux gaming marketshare. He didn't even charge for his Linux installers, that were created after the games release. So he didn't even see the demand for Linux games on his end. "Oh maybe by how many downloads of each linux installer that he provided" Even then.

Now I'm just waitin' gog to put some linux binaries there since I bought Hotline Miami there :)
Yeah sadly GOG, didn't want to deal with all the support for linux, so they chose MAC platform as their new supported option.

GOG won't put any Linux binaries up if you want the Linux version your best bet is to contact the developers or Devolver and ask nicely for a Steam key!

it might be nice to have that plugin for linux browsers, but on the other hand then they have no motivation to do demo packages.
just force them to make demo pacakges avaialable, for downloading from steam or from their site.
much better than having stuff in browser.
for browser stuff there already is that sh***y NaCL.

sadly i know some unity games that are browser only, and thatswhy no linux support.
but we need to make us heard instead. so they can package the game normal ways.

We all would like to see native clients from dev's for Linux. But that one plugin could save all those dev's alot of time. I dont really care for in browser games myself. It's mostly that i would like to test a demo of it before i buy it, if the demo is only available in a browser.

It's just given that option to be able to play those unity games that ARE browser only. That would open a huge list of titles that run in Linux.

True. Although i bought Interstellar Marines. Like the 50 dollar purchase, to help support them. They created their deadlock demo, and it was browser only. For months i have been asking them to just release a demo of it for Linux users to try it out. They wont do it. Ive owned the game since they made the kickstarter, and i haven't been able to test it out.

I'd rather devs just shipped native demos. I don't need to run stuff like that in a browser.

Unity needs to stop being stupid and make a god damn unity web player plugin for Linux. You know how many of these games have demo's in the browser that we cant play? Being able to play a demo is the best way to determine wether you want to buy the game or not.
