Not really, I've never played the original game plus there's enough platformers in my backlog...
PS: WTF!? It's 2.99€ for me. I thought Desura didn't have regional pricing and that they fairly converted the prices to all currencies (maybe just sometimes rounding it to the upper $/€/£)... ><

You're welcome, s_d! Always feels good to make people happy. :)
Quoting: s_dI, personally, can recommend The Journey Down: Chapter One, for any lover of adventure games. Skygoblin are an absolutely tiny indie company (like four dudes in Sweden).Me too. I bought it during the big Steam Linux sale and I must say it's a worthy successor of the great adventure classics of the '90s. The only drawback I found is that's so damn short. I wanted more! >< Looks like I'll have to wait for Chapter Two... :P
Guns of Icarus online released! [plus initial impressions]

Definitely worth the purchase, I got Guns of Icarus during the sale :P
A short gameplay video I made of it, running in Ubuntu 12.10 with maxed out graphics if you're interested in seeing how it runs:
View video on youtube.com
This game runs really well, and the Quick Match option makes it a no-hassle for me to join games. If you get disconnected, there's even a button to reconnect to that game (albeit, limited time though).
Problems I've had with the game are only two: It takes a good 5 seconds or so whenever loading a map, it's textures and models. Secondly, the mouse sensitivity is too high! I have a Razer DeathAdder, and even after using xinput to reduce the sensitivity beyond Ubuntu's standard limits, it's still too fast. A short nudge to left or right results in a 180 degree turn. Sometimes even 360 degrees turn.

ANOMALY 2 announced with Linux support!

I'm not really a gamer, but after playing Amnesia and especially Trine2 on Ubuntu, I was getting excited about a new fun thing to do on Linux. Yesterday though I bought Anomaly, which I REALLY loved on my android phone, and thought it would be cool to see on the big screen. But unfortunately it didn't work.
I have a new Bonobo Extreme coming Monday and will give it another try. That may be one reason I'm not upset yet, because I expect Trine 2 to play a lot higher res on that one, and hopefully Anomaly works.
But in the meantime I bought Anomaly:Korea for my phone. Looks good!
I don't mind supporting this company in a new territory, and have some faith that they'll either fix it or I'll figure out a workaround, eventually, and even so, Anomaly on the phone was only a few bucks and I really loved it more than 15 dollars worth (considering the +$10 for Ubuntu)! I mean, games are really getting cheap these days distributed online...I remember having to pay 40-60 dollars for a decent cartridge game back in the day, so I have trouble understanding the anger that arises in reviews when a 3 dollar Android game doesn't work, especially considering that when it's really broken it's usually a one-click operation to get a refund if you catch it in 15 minutes. (Obviously 24 hours was better, but that policy was probably abused...a game like Anomaly can be beaten in that time). And, with some download issues on game content, the refund policy could be a little flawed (It took a few tries to get the download for Korea).
Anyway, it does kind of suck that Anomaly:Warzone Earth didn't just work for me.

Haha, muntdefems, you're the best, dude! :D
I went back and read my post again (before you'd replied) and thought that I'd probably waxed a bit nostalgic, showing my age... and worse, perhaps a bit boring. And then I see this. You've made my day!
I do truly believe that this Second Golden Age will be much better... it's not on the backs of a crushing AAA commercial market, where failed investment in risk is rewarded with the business version of crucifixion. It's on the backs of lean and thrifty indie developers.
We do need to support these creative souls; they carve out a sustainable niche in the business of gaming! It is growing slowly as a bottom-up approach, and we're bringing on the middle-sized games houses now! Double Fine, inXile, Harebrained Schemes, Obsidian, Uber Entertainment, and even the (smallish) development division of Valve itself!
It does, however, start with the small indie developers... and there are some great folks represented in these bundles. I, personally, can recommend The Journey Down: Chapter One, for any lover of adventure games. Skygoblin are an absolutely tiny indie company (like four dudes in Sweden).

Quoting: Dis@liamdawe Which games are those exactly? I have 18 games installed on steam alone and the only one that fails to run is Anomaly:Warzone Earth . In any case i'd expect the devs to at least reach out to AMD and not a we don't know how to fix it reply. Additionally the game also fails to start on Intel drivers. When you keep in mind that the game actually runs on mobile phones that is not ok imo.Sadly, on GNU/Linux that qualifies as normal customer support, not bad. It's bad when they get angry at you for using GNU/Linux.:|
In any case, while Catalyst still has quite a bit of catching up to do compared to Nvidia it is no longer the unusable mess it was a couple of years ago

I didn't check it explicitly, I just trusted the bundle's page were this game is announced as supporting Linux. If there's no Linux support as of yet, I assume it must be right around the corner, since last January they announced they were close enough to a finished Linux version (source: Steam Greenlight page.

For one thing one of the recent AMD beta update drivers couldn't even load Steam at one point. They never seem to release change logs when they do a Linux drivers anymore (What are they hiding?!).
I don't have a list to hand of games that don't work or worked poorly since I am now an Nvidia user and a happy one too, things could have changed since I last used AMD but even 2~ months ago it wasn't great.

Hmm, it's definitely peculiar. Whenever I run "Verify Integrity of Game Cache", it will say 7 things need to be redownloaded. It's always 52MB, so I'm guessing I have a corrupted download. Redownloading would normally fix it, but it isn't doing that this time.
If I were to run the launcher from the game folder, it works fine. But if I try to run it from Steam, that's when there's a problem.

That looks like an amazing upgrade in terms of graphical fidelity. I wonder about gameplay though. Shame there's no co-op.
After reading that thread avarisclari, I'm not so inclined to purchase Anomaly 2 now...
Just like Dungeon Defenders and Killing Floor. Leaving bugs in for months, till no one cares anymore. I even reported the textures bug on KFs forums, but no reply no update. Maybe Anomaly 2 won't be like this, but maybe it will too. Now I have doubt.

i have had zero launcher crashes, started fine all the time. no game crashes also with max settings.
only problem is that it turns off the second monitor when going fullscreen. and when using windowed mode with 1920x1080 for example, then some of the games content is hidden behind the panels.
but modifying game.cfg to 1920x1000 and windowed makes it work without problems and can see the full content of the game.

I did a basic gameplay video of it running in Ubuntu 12.10 64Bit here
View video on youtube.com
I'm still trying to make better quality videos, so it's not the best. Has anyone else who's tried the Linux version had the weird bug where the launcher refuses to open? I really had to struggle with it. Kept clicking Play until the Launcher opened up with the licence agreement.
The graphics are definitely a lot more shiny now, but the game crashes if I try to change resolutions in game. Had to edit the game.cfg manually outside of the game to get it to change to 1920x1080.

It says it fails to load Mono. I checked in the USC, and it says I have Mono runtime installed. What should I do to get up and running with this game? I downloaded it from the Mega link on the website.

its a very pvp focussed game. they updated and polished the gfx, but its largely the same DAOC format as right at the start. the combat system was designed by the player base, so it has basic gfx and a basic responsive combat system. which actually makes it simple to learn and enjoy in pvp. don't expect pvp to be easy tho - u need very good situational awareness to survive.

i have played it some time ago as well. i got turned off by the boring PvE grind.
never reached to RvR which seems to be a lot of fun.
but now i see that at level10 you have BattleZones(battlegrounds) to level up as well.
so i might give it another try, cause i really hate PvE in PvP orientated games.
prolly gonna do Linux Gaming Video soon as well.
