http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1065983707/the-red-queen-of-oz-two-fates-an-adventure-game/
The Red Queen of Oz is currently in-progress as a graphic novel, but this project is for expanding the story into an adventure game, which the project creator has been hoping for all along.
Those who don't like any combat will be happy to know it's completely optional, and those who just don't like the twitchy stuff will be happy to know that combat is turn-based if you don't skip it.
Supported platforms: Linux, Mac, Windows (developed with Unity engine)

Playing with EDuke3D will result in a superior experience though. Although boss battles are ridiculously easy with mouse-look. :D

Great news ! I never played Duke Nukem before, so I'll try.
I found an alternative installation method : add Duke Nukem 3D to your GOG account from their website. Then launch an up-to-date version of PlayOnLinux. In PlayOnLinux, search for Duke Nukem 3D, select download from the web, and everything will be installed using your GOG credentials.
I found that process extremely neat !

hmm good point. Actually when you log in and buy the game the standalone download link appears. It will also appear in the linux games list as soon as the branch release is activated (shouldn't take too long). Then you'll be able to see it even if you didn't buy the game ;)
The demo is for now only on the game's website. It will be available on Desura also.
And yes, the game will also be released on Mac but that will probably take a few more months as we don't have the money to buy a mac (yet).

The desura page only lists Windows on the release box by the way. Which I think is why you don't show up on the Linux games list view at all.
Downloaded demo via official website - runs silky smooth for me and quite cool actually. Ideally it needs some sort of minimap rather than a map you tab in and out.
Once I get some funds spare together I think this will be a buy from me!
Will it be getting a Mac version as well? I know I know but the mrs has one and i would like to play her ;)

I wish it worked well for me, that is even with the patches the amount of texture bugs is making this unplayable for me.
On a separate note, I see you're in Humble QA now Liam! Or maybe I just didn't notice you before. Just wanted to say hi.

I know they had the UT04 mod my point was it's now tied to steam so steam coming to Linux brings it over again and now it's really popular. :)
Still got some texture issues but it works well for the most part.

Not to sound too much like a buzzkill but in the case of Killing Floor the Tripwire guys have been friendly to Linux for years (they started as UT2004 modders) but they could not make a port because of Steamworks. Now this may sound a little simplistic, but you could even say that Valve kept the title from us for three years (even longer for Red Orchestra). Croteam of course also has a Linux history, and they also said the main thing that was keeping them back was because that they were now using Steamworks.
It will be interesting to see if it attracts some more devs that were not simply kept from the platform because of Steam, but rather are actually attracted to it due to the interest surrounding it.

Quoting: "liamdawe, post: 7096, member: 1"The beta for me is very stable now so it's good to see them open this up to the public, it really will be interesting to see over the next year exactly how it affects the Linux landscape, as it already has by bringing us some higher profile games like Killing Floor to Linux.

i have had no issues also. big picture mode works without any problems as well.
well yeah..tray icon is missing tho. and the ability to run windows games via native client (but that doesnt count i guess :) )
it just currently feels epic downgrade in the amount of games when i log into the native client. 32 vs 117 games

I have had no issues with it except big picture mode which causes a crash and no trayicon. My install was just opening the .deb with ark, rip a few files out and placing them in home/Steam, so no install via root needed.
By Bumadar, 13 December 2012 at 4:47 pm UTC
Quoting: "dimko, post: 7097"Well, i can't say it's stable for me, it's in fact, not. But it is very much playable. Some crashes are fatal, some bugs can be tolerated.

Valve said in a comment on the Linux blog last month that they wouldn't be banning anybody for using the beta without an invite ^_^
The official list of supported Linux titles (which interestingly doesn't include Osmos at the moment, which runs) is here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8495-OKZC-0159

So GOG are distributing Linux binaries? That's fantasic!
Edit: I'm a little confused. Does the GOG version use EDuke3D, or is it just that you could use the free GOG version with it (in the way that you could use Linux FS2_Open binaries with Freespace bought from GOG)?
The GOG link looks busted by the way ^_^

A linux demo will follow, probably before xmas.
