I suggest making a monthly donations bar so people will know how much more you need and maybe add some extra.
I remember seeing such bar on programmers website who said that if he had 4k donations a month then he will release all his software as free source.
Strangely enough, he got the donations for a few months.

Well either way it is coming, we know that as for other Distros I'm sure everyone will get it to work.

Actually, it was made up by people who where claiming Steam is a bad thing or non-Ubuntu news sites. OMGUbuntu, Ubuntu Vibes, WebUpd8 all said it will be only available officially on Ubuntu. They never said "Only on Ubuntu!", just "Only supported officially on Ubuntu."

In fact, the first Valve blog post highlights that they were only using Ubuntu exclusively during development, implying that at launch there will be other distros supported (even if it were the only officially supported distro, I find it hard to imagine that they'd be able to do anything to actively prevent it being run on others).

FTL Game released!

First time playing a roguelike? :p
Game is amazing though. Managed to beat it around my 7th run. Engi ship is OP once you get a drone recovery arm and three offensive drones.

Majesty Gold available on Gameolith and Desura

Well, not from me there wasn't. But I agree with the sentiment; in either case you have to pick your poison. It is up to you whether you figure it is worth it.
Majesty is undeniably a good game in of itself though.

Majesty Gold was the first native game I purchased for Linux (through Tux Games as a matter of fact), and I'm happy to see it on Desura and Gameolith where it can get the recognition it deserves. I can't comment on how LGP's DRM affects the game because I still own the Linux CD from years ago but it will be interesting to see if LGP will send me a Desura key since I already own the game. If not I'll buy it again, that's how much I enjoy Majesty Gold!

LGP: you download it, you need to enter the code, give a password which you need to reinstall the game with that code on other pc's. That's about it. Have had no problems with it ever.
Steam: you need to log in and launch the game from within steam where it checks you actually own it and you download it. Have had no problems with it either.

It's interesting that this almost directly reflects the revenue per platform for the Humble Indie Bundles (only those with "indie" in the title), for which Linux payments currently account for 14.95% (it's a little over 16% for all bundles combined). Yet more evidence that the Humble Bundle seem to be a good indicator for Linux purchasing behaviour.

Quoting: "Bumadar, post: 5408, member: 93"A bit down the posts they mention linux was about 15% of the sales, if that remained the same then its still 1500 units a month.... not bad I would think :)

Misquote! There was no full stop there :O
Seriously though, this is likely to be a pretty big hurdle for us (F/OSS communities) to overcome within the next few years. Most of the rest of the world has been trained to be dismissive of messages that come out of the Free Software movement to the extent that rationally irrefutable arguments are ignored without justification.

I suspect Apple would need to aggressively adopt the term (as opposed to happily using it as a distinguishing point) for it to really start to disappear. Linux is a little too far away from mainstream and seen to be populated by ineffectual neckbeards for the broader industry to pay attention to semantic arguments like this coming from us.

I agree... The game is great, but the drm is a dealbreaker! I didn't choose an open OS to run drm-locked software on it.
But again... majesty is a true gem and if you dont have a problem with the drm, you'll love it!

I still cringe every time someone uses words incorrectly (yes, I cringe quite often).
Fortunately the use of PC to mean sone specific OS will begin to fade soon, as recognition of the existence of alternatives sets in.

Saying that the sales aren't doing very well is not a very nice way of putting it. We're actually in the top 10 selling games on Desura, so for our distribution platform we aren't doing bad at all.
However, I don't have the budget to market the game, so I was looking to make a type of game that would better market itself.
