Finally, after a tiresome, cold and dark week it's finally Friday and I can relax knowing that the holidays are here! So let us celebrate a little with some Linux games!
A big shame, but with all the other games I have right now I'm a little spoilt for choice anyway. Rocket League developers emailed our youtuber friend Jake to confirm it's not this year. UPDATED.
I'm not entirely sure if this is an accidental slip, or if Feral Interactive are preparing to release Medieval II: Total War on Linux, but their radar updated today to say Medieval II: Total War is out on Mac and Linux, but it's currently not. UPDATED.
Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is a beautiful looking atmospheric puzzle platformer about finding the source of a never-ending blizzard. Looks like it will come to Linux now too!
The Steam Controller keeps on getting better and better, the latest update is pretty fancy too. You can now take your custom configurations with you, and customize the turn on and turn off sound as well as the brightness of the Steam button. You can also now share non-Steam game configs.
SteamDB is a bit like a drug for some of us waiting on games, and today my usual check-in resulted in finding PAYDAY 2 with some nice looking Linux additions.
These are the types of projects I can really get behind. Much like CosixTH for Theme Hospital, openage is aiming to be a full open source engine for Age of Empires II.
Magicka 2 seems like a pretty cool game, and great that we now have it on Linux too. The idea of battling away by casting spells is quite cool, and this new DLC looks insane.
While sites like STEAM and GOG are often the go-to for our gaming pleasure, there are still some indie gems hidden in the corners of the Internet that forgo these venerable platforms. One of those is Starsector, an open world space combat sim set in the distant future where civilization is slowly collapsing.
The games store Itch has released the first proper public version of their own store client like Steam and GOG Galaxy, but simply named "Itch". It's open source too, so that's cool.
