GE-Proton 9-8 and 9-9 fixes Resident Evil on GOG, various other game fixes

Quoting: ssj17vegetaJust a question : do specific changes made in GE get eventually backported into mainstream Proton ?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but no changes from GE gets backported into Proton since they contain video codecs and other libraries that cannot be distributed unless a license is paid to allow it. This is why Valve doesn't include certain video codecs with Proton (which is those colored bars that appear during cinematic scene) and has to use workarounds to make it play nice.
That's part of it yes, Valve cannot legally provide support for the codecs used, GE works around it.

As for "backported into mainstream Proton", a lot of what is pulled into GE is directly from upstream Proton (and it's related packages) just it's sometimes faster (but again, less testing and no real support).

Yeah, it used to be somewhat basic with a great idea. Now it's a great idea with a whole lot of actual game.

Quoting: Pickettf3nceThe "Gulikit KK3 MAX" is a great alternative for those of us in the US or UK.

L3, L4, R3, R4 detachable rear paddles, toggle-able hair triggers, analog triggers, hall-effect joysticks, 8 (or 4) way d-pad, programmable macros, 3 vibration intensities, USB-C rechargeable, addressable RGB, integrated gyroscope, extra buttons to swap between Nintendo and Traditional button layouts. Support for Switch, SteamOS, Android, iOS, MacOS, and windows.

It's a night and day difference between this and an Xbox Series controller.
Do their paddles actually fully work on Linux and Steam Deck without needing an external app like 8bitdo?

Wait, those two dust spot are supposed to replace L/R5 ? That's bloody useless, who's gonna give up aiming or moving to use that ?
L4/R4 are paddles on the back of the controller. The other additional two buttons M1 and M2 are those you see right at the bottom.

There's nothing to say it won't be, but they've only just announced it.

QuoteWhat are your thoughts on this?
In spite of how they say they don't intend to replace people, I'm sure that those who lost their jobs are delighted to hear that they've been replaced with what's basically the modern equivalent to the Gibberish Generator.

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree DLC update causing problems on Steam Deck / Linux
21 June 2024 at 7:23 am UTC Likes: 1

As someone who does not have the DLC, the EAC issue is still there and not yet fixed.

Looking on the Steam forum, there's a few posts about it happening and not all from Linux/Steam Deck, so may be a wider issue and still happens for people with the DLC.

Quoting: kit89Do the above gog links fail to open for anyone else?
The links are the same ones we always use as a GOG Affiliate. I did notice ublock recently just refuses to let them even open, so it’s a plugin issue.

If a plugin you use doesn't even tell you anything, I would consider that a bug and there's nothing I can personally do about it.

Also, article updated with the Amazon Luna info now live.
