12 April 2014 at 7:16 am UTC

A tip for downloading the beta: switch to the beta before downloading anything. I downloaded 700mb of non-beta, got a missing executable, and had to download 1,2gb again.

Natural Selection 2's Direct3D HLSL to OpenGL GLSL Parser Open Sourced
28 March 2014 at 5:21 pm UTC

Unity has a similar, open-source compiler (derived from mesa): https://github.com/aras-p/hlsl2glslfork . Unreal uses the same codebase, but they aren't publishing their proprietary branch at all.

Yess, platforming.
Handling looks a lot like Psychonauts: rails, automatically grabbing bars, a stomp-punch.

CRYENGINE from Crytek Announces Official Linux Support Ahead Of GDC

Plus, hands-on demos! That's a vote of confidence for their Linux performance.

Defense Grid 2 is happening and coming to Linux!
9 March 2014 at 3:35 am UTC

This Defense Grid post-mortem (via Kickstarter updates gives some really good reasons to target Linux: their first release got screwed by Microsoft (on delays and price points), they managed to release to Steam instead, and worked on Valve's CS:GO later on.

Fight The Dragon Hack & Slash RPG Hitting Linux This Month
7 March 2014 at 10:25 pm UTC

Looks lovely, and I like their priorities: short coop sessions (though I hope solo will be good as well) and a really usable level builder.
