My opinion is that the price should be the price, and that should be converted to the real-time equivalent for the currency you're buying in.

So game = £10. At time of writing:
  • UK: £10

  • USA: $13.15

  • Japan: ¥1386

  • Europe: €11.12

etc. Then apply whatever local tax applies (which is probably where most of the pressure on Valve comes from, taxperson always wants their cut...).

Alas, this past week has been little more than Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (Switch) and The Last of Us: Part 2 (PS4). Think I'm coming to the end of the latter, so may have more time for Linux gaming next week...

Cadmus has an insane packaging system, so it basically has to use that appimage bollocks. Hopefully this software can actually be packaged properly.

QuoteOn the Linux side, they've hooked it up with "a new GTK+ based host for Flutter apps on all Linux distros".

Meh, not interested then.

Been thoroughly underwhelmed by this event, at times I've even forgotten that here was one. It doesn't feel like Valve are even trying any more.

Makes me think of Eternal Darkness from the Gamecube. Had "sanity effects" that made it look like your memory card was getting wiped, or the console restarted mid-game, etc. Was a really cool mechanic that brought an extra dimension to the experience. I'll have to pick this up and try it for myself.

Chrome OS appears to be edging closer to Steam support with Linux

Don't chromebooks use ARM processors? If so, then they need *something* to emulate a x86 processor in order to make this a worthwhile exercise. I guess that's why they've gone for a VM solution (qemu can emulate x86: https://www.qemu.org/docs/master/system/target-i386.html). No idea what the performance will be like though.

Happy birthday GoL! Glad to hear you're still enjoying it, Liam! Dunno what I'd do for gaming news without this website.

What have you been playing recently and what's your pick this weekend?

Dungeons 3 - Just started, and it's as wacky as Dungeon Keeper, but doesn't have the same level of charm. The controls are clunky and switching between dungeon and overworld maps is jarring. Still, I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm finding myself being drawn back to War for the Overworld.

Northgard - The missions are getting a little repetitive now. Still enjoying it, but I'm having to get in the mood to play it. I've found that if I stop mid-level, and come back to it later, I lose all the momentum I'd been building up and I don't fare so well, so I try to get each mission done in one sitting. Managing scouts is still a pain in the arse.
