Just played on Stalker mode for the first time; it's a hell of a step up from Voyager! Wolf packs everywhere! Hyperthermia is an actual problem, and frostbite seems to be as well (fortunately never got that though). I survived 5 days (vs months in Voyager).
The 'Razer DeathAdder Chroma' is quite possibly the nicest mouse I've ever owned

I'll add my voice to the chorus of complaints about build quality -- I've had a number of Razer devices over the years, and they all developed faults (usually with the scroll wheels) over the course of a year or so. I'd recommend avoiding them and going with roccat instead (at least, for devices supported by the no-longer developed Linux configuration tool).

I still don't have their previous DLC. £7 for four new characters is a bit expensive for me.

Cambridge is a little far away for me, but if they do a similar event in Edinburgh or Glasgow, I'd be interested in attending.

Looks good to me!
I do hope the battlescape isn't too restrictive like the modern XCOM games, the original system of TUs and free fire gave you much more freedom -- from destroying walls and hedges to create alternate routes, to choosing when and where to take your shots, to saving some TUs for the chance of getting reactionary shots.
I hope the geoscape is similar to the originals too.

Linux gamers on Arch may want to hold off on updating due to openssl breaking some games (updated)

Ahh, yeah, my bad. I totally misread. Downgrading openssl-1.0 is definitely not as big a deal as downgrading openssl (which is what I thought we were talking about). Sorry BTRE.

I'm not sure how you managed this. Curl has been rebuilt against openssl 1.1.0.e-1 (libssl.so.1.1.0), removing it (by downgrading openssl) will cause pacman to break with "error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Downgrading is not a solution, and just downgrading one package amounts to a partial upgrade.

Quoting: BTREQuoting: WorMzyDon't downgrade your openssl package, you'll break everything that now depends on the new soname (including pacman! Well done!).
Not true in this instance. openssl is at its latest version on my system (1.1.0.e-1) and I only downgraded openssl-1.0 to 1.0.2.k-2. No breakage to either pacman or anything else insofar I can tell.

Wow, so much bad advice in such a short amount of time!
Don't symlink the new soname to masquerade it as the old soname. Don't downgrade your openssl package, you'll break everything that now depends on the new soname (including pacman! Well done!). STiAT had the closest to the correct solution, but [never "-Sy" anything](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/System_maintenance#Partial_upgrades_are_unsupported).
See https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/53618, particularly Christoph Haag's comment.
