wikipaedia>The Steam Deck is a handheld gaming computer developed by Valve and released on February 25, 2022

Liam>This is only the third time they've ever been on sale

Three sales in ~19 months. That's once every six months on average. Sounds pretty regular.

AFAIR he has Gary, who may meow, but is a snail.

Genuinely disappointed with this one. Do they go into any detail anywhere about why they're not doing a Linux release?

I wasn't particularly impressed with Civ VI, it seemed like a step in the wrong direction vs. Civ V, but picking up the anthology for <£22 is a pretty good deal.

Can't go wrong with the X-Com games, even if they're not as good as the original Amiga games (fortunately openxcom scratches that itch).

Quoting: SoulprayerYou can still get the classic version on the bay12 website.

Yeah, but it's no longer going to get updates/fixes.
I don't know what you mean, the "classic" version on bay12 Website has the same version as the Steamversion.
Bad choice of wording on either my part or DF's. What I mean by 'classic' is called 'legacy' on the Bay12 website.

The 'classic' version on the website is Windows only and doesn't seem to want to work in wine, so it might be comparable to 'legacy', but I've been informed that it's just the Steam version with the pretty graphics stripped out, which doesn't inspire confidence that it has the old-style keybindings.

Still works for me, it definitely listed Linux as a supported platform when I bought it.

Hopefully this isn't a sign they're reneging on Linux support. :/

I'm at 2.7 hours, so refunding it would be a PITA since Steam Support don't read the refund requests, and just yay or nay based on the 2h/2w rule.

Awesome! Need to give the new controls another go -- unlearning 15+ years of keyboard shortcuts is hard and the game feels so much slower because of it. I'm still sad that they retired the classic version, but at least they added the classic graphics to the new version.
