Steam is having a whopper of a sale right now
22 December 2015 at 11:00 pm UTC

I bought the Linux-available Saints Row games, and an extra DLC for Total War: ATTILA that made it's way to Linux (only one left to port -- Viking Forefathers!).

...now I have to collect the rest of the cards. Don't ask me why, I just do.

Quoting: minjLooks like arch is growing :)

It actually shrunk this month vs. last month (both in real numbers, and percentage).

Liam, could you add the "Survey" tag to the last results (here, it wasn't too hard to find the article, but it could've been easier if it was tagged like this one.

Does DLC count as an update, or a separate game?

Quoting: Segata SanshiroYet again, no chance of me entering since I avoid social networks like the plague. Ah well.

Ditto.

Plus I have the artistic talent of a thing with no artistic talent.

I'm also equally as good at similes.

Oh well, it's really cool that Feral are doing this!

The new XCOM 2 trailer has me extremely excited for the Linux port

Still can't get enough of those snakemen.

Sorely tempted to preorder this. Might have to check whether Feral are taking preorders directly, since I don't trust Steam to count me as a Linux sale.

All but two of the DLCs have SteamOS icons, I wonder why those last two don't..

Oh well, that's £60 SEGA/Creative Assembly have gotten from me. :D

A very special livestream tonight, keyboard and mouse vs Steam Controller
29 November 2015 at 6:58 pm UTC

I was just playing L4D with a controller. It was doable, up until the finale, then I had to switch to K&M. My overall accuracy was 30%. It's usually 60-70%. :(

I think I was improving towards the end. It takes a bit of getting used to holding your finger still and using the gyro for precision aiming.

GOL Asks: What have you been playing on Linux & SteamOS recently?

Armello, ARK: Survival Evolved, Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth, Left 4 Dead 2, Alien Isolation, and Rust.

Haven't played ARK much since I got annoyed at the graphical bugs, multiplayer limitations, and a fecking skeletal raptor killing all my tamed dinos in two seconds.

Haven't played Alien for a little while either, since I find the mandatory stealth sections almost impossible and infuriating.

Only just started playing Armello again since there was a bug that stopped it running on nvidia drivers for a couple of weeks.

GOL GOTY Awards Coming Up, What Do You Want To See?

I think we should focus on good things. Naming and shaming bad games/developers in a semi-official manner leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I say keep it simple on the voting system -- one vote per category. It might lead to some stupid strategic voting (I liked X more, but I think Y will win, so I'll vote for Y), but I think it'll make most people really think about who they want to win.

As a player, I've had a lot of fun playing these games, I hope the experience has been a positive one for all the developers too. Congratulations to all the participants!
