Looks like the proprietary Intel driver users aren't the only people who need educating. :(

New Linux Gaming Survey For August

Minor typo: "What type of device do you primerily use for Linux gaming?"

I answered "no" for the emulator question, but I do dip in and out of playing my old favourites from time to time. :)

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Released For Linux, We Love You Feral Interactive
1 August 2015 at 6:28 pm UTC

Finally finished downloading and have chance to play today. First thing I notice is that you can set the resolution higher (up-to 200%) than your display is capable of displaying, I'm not sure if this makes the game use OGSSAA (Ordered Grid Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing) or it's just runs at native resolution (1920x1080 in my case) and the option is just for placebo effect. Either way it looks lovely.

The next thing I noticed was that the game is very confused about my keyboard layout. I use dvorak, so I'm used to having to remap keys for games. What is strange though, is that the game thinks I'm using some completely different layout from dvorak or even qwerty. For example my keyboard has
' , . p y f g c r l / =
on the first row of letters. Shadow of Mordor thinks I have
[key not allowed] w v l f u i j p n [key not allowed] ]

Really not sure what to make of that. Doesn't stop me playing, just makes a lot of onscreen key prompts bullshit, haha.

Edit: Happy Liam, birthday! :P

Terraria Now In Open Mac And Linux Beta
27 July 2015 at 9:35 am UTC

Had some trouble with lag when hosting a multiplayer game, although my brother (Windows user) says this is common on Windows hosts too.

Besides that, I'm really enjoying what the game has become since the last time I played (two years or so ago)
