NVIDIA GeForce are teasing something for August 31, likely RTX 3000
10 August 2020 at 6:37 pm UTC

Quoting: WorMzyI'm going to go out on a limb and guess they aren't going to announce that they're open sourcing their Linux driver and/or co-operating fully with the nouveau developers to make the open source driver feature complete.

Would be nice to be surprised....

Actual huang sadness about opensource collaboration

Back to topic if ampere is successfull maybe big navi could dont be out and leave for rdna 3 next year

Linux distro Fedora 33 may get DXVK as the default for Wine
23 July 2020 at 11:47 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: Alm888It is nice that after a year he decided to lend a hand to WINE team (especially considering the team have tragically lost its key graphics developer), but DXVK is still his pet-project and wine-dxvk is a fork. And I am against forks.

Wine devs normally are very closed circle, is difficult allow entry to new developers (specially when can affect in many ways some parts case wined3d with dxvk)

But actually them dont accept dxvk (wine programming standar issue, dxvk use C++ and wine dont accept that)

However package is optional, but as gamer wined3d is a dead horse and d9vk/dxvk is possible use many games with very good performance and features case vsync (this give troubles in wined3d)

Another thing is d9vk/dxvk use cpu in better way (better multithreading) than wined3d

Without forget time to resolve bugs in wined3d compared dxvk, dxvk is more proactive in this matter, personally i dont want give support to wined3d for wait years to solve bugs or in other cases stay as non resolved or abandonen

Actually them stay working on own vulkan solution but when appear will be late because dxvk stay some time ago without forget performance (possible worst in wine vulkan implementation)

NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver 450.56.01 out, Ray Tracing and bug fixes
10 July 2020 at 7:52 pm UTC

Quoting: Beamboom... and yet another bloody weird case of Nvidia versioning.

Just recently they released a new STABLE driver version 450.57. Subversion 57 of the 450 driver.

... And now they continue with a new beta, version 450.56.01?! So like, this is a new driver that's a beta of the version prior to the stable 450.57??

WTF?

for vulkan this driver is better than stable

doutsujin from discord:

Quotecan confirm that the vertex buffer stuff is fixed

Quoting: jensI would love to know which version of the Vulkan branch got merged into this one.
Is `VK_EXT_extended_dynamic_state` already included (from 440.66.17)? If not, is this version suitable for RDR2 (like 440.66.15)?

according nvidia json file lastest driver stay a bit outdated compared vulkan beta driver:

"file_format_version" : "1.0.0",
"ICD": {
"library_path": "libGLX_nvidia.so.0",
