Quoting: LordpkappaWhat do you think is the minimum market share to support Linux for Blizzard? I think 5% maybe will be enough.

Think exactly same but make this objective linux must be more simple to final user

As you said if linux userbase grow around 5% is possible blizzard see with other perspective but for them money is first (activision/blizzard:bobby kotick* 12 millon sir)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kotick

Him said sometime ago "if player can pay 60 dollars for game, players can pay more"

However wow have opengl mode, this maybe more easily linux port

Other thing steam linux survey must be improve for specify more details than now

Valve Developed Own Vulkan Driver For Intel, They Demo Dota 2 On Source 2

Quoting: Segata SanshiroAll the Vulkan stuff has been the best news to come out of GDC really. If they can get this out soon (before DirectX), redudce driver overhead and make it easier for developers then it's fantastic news for us.

Btw, does anyone know if this will work on PS4 instead of OpenGL or not? That's going to be a pretty big factor in its adoption.

PS4 dont use OpenGL, them use own lenguage pssl (PlayStation Shading Language)

Maybe this document expain more about that (around 50 pages)

PSSL PDF

Lots Of Big Games Confirmed For SteamOS, Torchlight II Now Out, Payday 2, Mordor And More Coming Too

Quoting: r2rXAs for EA/Ubi....i'm prediciting they'll be last in this game.

They're basically gonna wait for everyone else to establish the platform/market and THEN jump in. If not of this former reason, it'll at least be due to them taking their sweet time porting their respective distribution platforms to Linux. :D

Exactly many AAA companies dont think on linux until market grow

But for now is very important linux users buy this titles (represent profit for companies and make good situation for companies think about other titles)

Back to EA them can make titanfall (source engine) linux version as experiment and many users buying

Quoting: r2rXYou'll be very suprised how quickly this attitude will change. If they have a solid platform to work with; enamored with a growing user base and developer support...it'll happen...no doubt.

The time i'll shit a brick is when EA/Ubisoft release games on SteamOS. :)

Exactly if buying userbase* dont grow more is very difficult see more AAA titles

*for see this linux must be more simple to final user than now

However in middle of this see AAA titles like as shadow of mordor, batman, grid autosports and others is very impressive

EA and Ubisoft is very difficult however origin must be work on linux more easily (QT) on game side difficult

On EA side (if them want) maybe see first titanfall because this game use source engine (modified)

Quoting: r2rXIIRC, both Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7 are based of Unreal Engine 4....so it's not such a stretch of the imagination to see them on Linux.....same for Mortal Kombat X (Unreal Engine 3). The respective companies may not have an interest in Linux per se.....but they'll be very interested in SteamOS as a brand/platform. :D

Sega is the interesting company....they're branching away from console development and focusing on PC and Mobile.....hmm.

Capcom, Namco and Konami dont interest in linux (with or without steamos) because dont represent strong market around 1% (many users*) compared with steam on windows

*More users buy titles: More Money for companies

Quoting: r2rXNB: I won't be suprised if get Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, Mortal Kombat X and Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pain on Linux by November. :p

Difficult very difficult maybe mortal kombat x (wb) but street fighter v (capcom), tekken 7 (namco) and metal gear (konami) dont because capcom, namco and konami dont have interest in linux for now

However could be possible see other titles from other publisher like as sega, alien isolation stay very good and other titles of them like as sonic all stars racing transformed and many others
