SteamOS 3.5.7 released, plus Steam Deck Client update and Power LED changes coming

The microphones are probably directional, meaning that they'll pick up sound more strongly from in front of the Deck (I've not tested them at all). You'd probably still get the bass rumble aspects, though.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumI can't help but think that if I'm using the Deck online, and the microphone is active, it could be bad. I tend to rest my deck on my lap while sitting on a sofa or bed when I'm using it. So I guess if I fart it will be "aired" to all players?

It actually has two, for positional audio. They're behind two pinholes at the top of the screen.

Valve gives Steam a nice upgrade for controller-friendly games

The Deck with its heightened importance of mixed input and the shaming of sloppy controller support in the store are the kinds of things that would encourage developers to let Steam Input handle things automatically.
There isn't a general external solution when developers have locked in one set of glyphs: some mods are just going to change the assets, and others are going to be hex-editing binaries, and whatever else they can come up with; not something Steam can do.

Quoting: PyreticTrue, but that's only for games with Steam Input. Sadly, it isn't widely used and I wish that Steam would implement an official feature to replace controller textures.

Quoting: PyreticI use my PlayStation controller whenever my Steam Deck is plugged in, mainly because it comes with gyro and I have a PS4 anyway. I wish Steam could implement a feature that automatically replaced the Xbox controller textures with PS4 glyphs. But I can understand how much of a nightmare that would be to implement.Technically it already does: if a developer uses Steam Input for their input handling the game can automatically get whichever glyphs are appropriate for whichever controller is being used, provided it's a controller that Steam knows about (which is all the major ones). Developers that pick some other library to handle controller input end up with Xbox prompts because Microsoft declared that Xbox is the Windows "standard," and developers have to put in extra effort to also have anything else.

One thing to note with this update: if you had a per-application framerate cap set previously then updating will make the Deck forget about it because of the new slider. I ate most of my battery playing GTA Batman before I noticed.

Quoting: drjomsOH WHOA!It's gamescope only for now; the kernel work is ongoing, and there's a Wayland spec in progress. Gamescope uses a cut-down version of that spec for HDR in one fullscreen application, and KDE Plasma is using that same cut-down version for the same purpose in Plasma 6.
HDR ON LINUX?
Ok i get it it Steam Deck only, but HOT DAMN!

I've been working my way through the Shadowrun games for the last little while - I'm just finishing up Hong Kong now. The (default) community controller layout makes it an excellent experience on the Deck.
