Bioshock Infinite Early Linux Port Report
17 March 2015 at 10:39 pm UTC

When I got to the action scenes, I did start noticing the input lag. It is not nearly as bad as Witcher 2, but it is definitely there. I am playing on Quadro K1100M which is no that powerful, but it can definitely handle the graphics. Just the damn input lag messing up otherwise great experience.

BioShock Infinite Released For Linux, Thanks To Virtual Programming

I was a skeptical when I heard that this is an eON port (is it, really?), but they must have done something right because it runs very well on high settings on my laptop with NVIDIA Quadro K1100M. Whereas Witcher 2 has (had?) horrible input lag, even on lowest settings, on the same machine.

Unfortunately I am just getting a segfault:

Nothing really useful in the backtrace either. Any ideas?

Which company is that?

And have you been allowed to? :)

Of course! No way I was going to miss it. :P

Since then it is kind of hard to scare me, but Amnesia succeeded. Although I found Penumbra games to be more captivating, or maybe thrilling is the word. :)

I am actually signed up as a Linux beta tester for this one, so I am quite excited to hear that it is being worked on.

Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port

Quoting: liamdaweBad vibrations around eON, where to start? To put it simply it was broken at release for most, and is still terrible for a lot of people.

While I am officially anti eON, I am willing to be proven wrong. I mean, the engine of Witcher 2 is different enough from BioShock Infinite that results from one do not necessarily apply to the other. That is considering that there is nothing fundamentally broken. One can only hope...

It's running OK? I'd avoided it because I was hearing terrible things about the linux port.

Not sure what you heard, but it does run fine. The gamma slider does not work, but I experience that in many games. Probably because of Bumblebee.

As for Witcher 2, no the beta is not better. The input lag is ridiculous. You can move the pointer halfway across the screen before it starts reacting. Running at 1360x768 with lowest settings mitigates the problem, but it is still there. So for now sign me up for the official eON haters club.

When this first started, I remember eagerly waiting for news on any new Linux release. Now I am actually losing track of things. Just a few months ago it was 600, and now it is 800. I have to admit that I have a very faint idea of what these 200 are... I guess this is a good thing, right?

I have also picked up Witcher 2 during the last sale, because I wanted to experience eON myself. And holy zombie cow, it is actually as bad as people say. Framerate is sort of barely acceptable on my NVIDIA Quadro K1100M, but I get a massive input lag.

Then there is Everlasting Summer. A naughty game for an exemplary communist in you. :) I guess you have to have experienced Soviet Union to appreciate it though.
