Albion Online Summer Alpha On Linux!

I love the concept but I hate the payment model and yes is a pay to win model!

This model is not working even if you have the best Unique game in the whole world I prefer to pay a reasonable price and be able to get all the features of the game instead of paying to win.

I have stopped playing any game with subscription services since the last 4 years and I am not gonna do that again. I am saving my subscription money and I just buying games that do not require subscription services.

https://albiononline.com/en/founderpacks

So lets say I am a fool and pay 100$ for the Legendary ....

Do you realize that this is an MMO ?

That means in 6 months your gear will be obsolete , you will need to lvl up, you will not have any money left bla bla bla ..... and at the end you will need a new premium subscription to catch your friends and to be on par with them...

I had this with World of Warcraft every expansion = new grinding = new subscription to grind for gear , grind for money in order to become the best of the best......

No thanks !

An Awesome Developer Response To A Comment On The Linux Version Being A Waste Of Time

The future is the Vulkan Api and we all know it..... even Microsoft knows that :P

AMD has stopped Mantle support and said to developers to Focus on Vulkan and Directx 12...

Source 2 engine treats Vulkan as a preferred API, so maybe Valve will simply encourages devs to adopt it over D3D for Steam titles, it can drive API adoption without requiring developers to simultaneously support a new operating system — while simultaneously making it much easier to port to a new OS if it decides to go that route.

We will see about that in the near future....

competition : Vulkan Vs DirectX 12

I am expecting a Gaming War to be happen when Games and especially when AAA Titles start Using Vulkan

If Vulkan proves that is faster/easier/better etc than DirectX 12 then we will have a revolution of Gaming
if Vulkan proves that it runs faster on Linux machines than in Windows then we will have a revolutionary Gaming OS

In case you have missed these Vulkan videos is worth watching them over and over again...

Quoting: WorMzy:o

Looks like Arch-based distros took quite a hit last month. I wonder what caused that.

As far as I know most of the arch based distros like Manjaro are using Plasma 5 now instead of KDE4
It has some bugs etc but we are expecting that on August most of the issues will be fixed...
Also you never have to format your computer again since is a rolling release distro and + all the newest updates instantly are available to use them , like kernels , drivers , new software etc.

Valve Finally Have A Proper Refund Policy For Steam
2 June 2015 at 5:56 pm UTC

well it was about time....

http://www.out-law.com/en/topics/commercial/consumer-protection/the-new-consumer-rights-directive/

Consumers have 14 calendar days to change their minds and return the goods for any reason

Currently under English law consumers have seven working days to cancel a sales contract and change their minds. This is commonly referred to as the 'cooling off period'. This will be extended to a minimum of 14 calendar days. The 14 day period will begin from the time the consumer receives the goods – not at the conclusion of the contract as is currently the case.

But Valve vs EU

and now is fixed :)

Legend Of Grimrock No Longer Works On Nvidia GeForce GTX 900 Series GPUs

I Am trying to investigate the problem so here are my findings...

so when I run it from terminal I Get:

[wolf@W Legend of Grimrock]$ '/media/ROMS/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Legend of Grimrock/Grimrock.bin.x86'
szCmd: /bin/sh -c '"/home/wolf/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh" steam://run/207170'; &
[wolf@W Legend of Grimrock]$ Running Steam on manjarolinux 0.8.13-rc1 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is disabled by the user
/home/wolf/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: line 710: LD_LIBRARY_PATH: unbound variable

so lets go on steam.sh
# Need to add /usr/lib32 to the library path to pick up libvdpau_nvidia.so on Ubuntu 12.04
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32"

on my path /usr/lib32 I dont have such a file libvdpau_nvidia.so :(
the file is located on this path /usr/lib32/vdpau/

I have tried symlinking files. changing paths etc but nothing

even if delete that line 710 it stucks on line 713
# prepend our lib path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM:$STEAMROOT/$PLATFORM/panorama:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"

if I delete that one as well then it cannot run steam :P
