The 3D scenario must be rendered twice from two differing viewing angles.
As far as I've heard (to my suprise) that's not very much more difficult than rendering only from one angle, but still, it is more work than the same amount of pixels in monoscopic view.

Quoting: N30NQuoting: PangachatI think it's two unique displays, and must compute two independent images for them. Are far as your video card knows it's a single display (hardware wise it mostly likely is too). Games just needs to render two views side by side and then apply a 2D distortion for the optics.

There will be a presentation at GDC by Valve about "physics for programmers" on 3/3 at 3 PM.
Many 3s for a company that's supposed to not even know that number.
Wonder if the presenter has the initials H.L...

I've preordered The Talos Principle because I knew from the demo/test version that it would be working very well and it is just my type of game (and it was even more then I've expected), because it gave me an extra copy of Serious Sam 3 (to gift) and some bucks off. Did not regret. But generally, I would probably not preorder.

Quoting: aLI did preordered bl2 presequel, but i understood the spirit of the question and answered "No, I don't pre-order EVER"

I'm happy with gaming on Debian. If, which I doubt, there will be a huge performance difference with SteamOS not making it back into Debian, I might dual-boot. But I'm happy with a Linux gaming PC and don't need no "Steam Machine".

Which CPU performance governor are you using?
Changing mine helped for a few games, although dozens of other ran well with the default.

Quoting: SkarjakI always upgrade to the latest drivers. Still choppy. Still not choppy on Windows with super old drivers I haven't bothered to upgrade in ages.
