It was more of a general discontent with ways websites are changed nowadays (of which GoL is not the worst case) that had it's first occasion to get expressed here... Sorry for having been harsh.
In my humble opinion it shouldn't take more than say a fourth of an ordinary screen if presenting new news is important for your site.

Quoting: liamdaweGood, am glad it wasn't meant to be, but that is sadly how it came across due to the wording.

Quoting: liamdaweWe wanted a way to bring attention to featured articles, and this is the way we liked. I will, however, look at adding a way for users to disable it, as it is not essential to show.

Condescending was not the intent at all, Liam.
I just see more and more web pages changing so they are probably well usable with a tablet - but losing lots of usability on PCs at the same time.
The same ist true for the new gamingonlinux outfit, at least for the part you see first when you enter the site. It yells "Not much information here buddy, sorry!" at me. Most space is taken by the featured article, which AFAIK does not change often. So when I want to visit your site several times a day, most I get is all the same every time. And only at the lowest end of the screen I can see parts of the first news article.

Quoting: liamdaweYes i am well aware more people use a PC thanks, no need to be condescending with feedback buddy.

Sorry, I find this hardly usable. Even with the browser full screen on my PC monitor, hald of the screen is filled by some image. The images for the entries in the main list are way too large as well IMHO. The fonts are quite large, and I'm saying this as someone who generally enlarges fonts from OS's default. (You do know that more people have a PC than a tablet or smart phone, right?) People get much less information on a glance now.

First-Person Puzzle Game The Talos Principle Due For Release Today, Available For Pre-Loading

Steam made you a cheapskate.
And me as well.
But some days ago I read an old article in my own blog from about two years ago where I wrote that a point-and-click adventure for 35 Euros is cheap. This made me rethink pricings and buy The Talos Principle.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI really enjoyed the demo and love the concept for the game, but still think £27 is just asking a crazy amount for it. In my pre-PC days I would have had no problem paying that, but since on Steam you could buy at least 3 great games for that money, finding it harder and harder to part with my cash. I guess I'll wait a while, still really looking forward to it though :)

Just to make sure: I had hiccups with Talos Principle, and they're gone since I switched to performance CPU governor. Have you enabled that?
12 December 2014 at 9:17 am UTC
Quoting: EKRboiThat said In the short time I played(30-ish min) it locked up on me twice so it is not very stable for me unfortunately and about every minute or so it hiccups pretty hard for a second. Other than that it is running 60fps no problem.

How Steam Computes Linux Sales

Good idea! There's another advantage to that, you'll get to see games filtered for Linux by default.

Just preordered that. They've done great teasing with the demo and their support and it looks like an interesting game, surely for the puzzles and hopefully for the background story. And due to the demo, I know that it will work.

Aspyr or Feral, can't remember, said that Windows is the default.
So this would be a Windows sale.

Quoting: OZSeafordNow, what happens if I buy my games (windows and Linux) via my Android App? If it is a windows game and I never install it, it stands to reason that they will make it count towards a Windows purchase.

I was buying the humble bundle back than in... spring? hoping for Giana Sisters among others. I already had given up hope when I saw the developers resonding in this very thread. I don'T care too much if it's decembre or february when it works good then.
