A good, native pinball game is one thing that's been sadly missing all along for Linux, and it's about time something like this has come along. I do with some more orthodox pinball games that aren't so frenetic would get made/ported, though.

This is such good news! A friend of mine bought this for me at Xmas, and I've been dying to actually play it natively.

Wow, that's seriously hard on the eyes. Everything is so neon and fuzzy, it's hard to make out what's important and what's background. Nice water reflections, though.

It looks like a much more industrial version of Monument Valley, but with that no-shading style that Antichamber uses. Have to keep an eye on it when it comes out.
GOL Asks: What Game Are You Looking Forward To Playing?

I've been looking forward to playing Banished for ages, ever since a friend bought it for me from my wishlist last Xmas. But seeing as the last we heard about the Linux port was May 1, I'm getting a little skeptical that it'll ever happen.
As for upcoming games, I'm definitely waiting on Last Life and Hyper Light Drifter. Very different games, but both look equally promising.

Point-And-Click Adventure 'Dropsy' Has Been Released, Some Initial Thoughts

Dropsy has such great reviews so far, but I have to admit I'm pushed away by the art style. Not because it's bad, but because to me it "feels" very much like any number of much more cynical animations and games where things turn dark and generally awful. I see art like that, and I'm spending all my time waiting for the other shoe to drop, for someone to reveal that life is shit and everyone is going to take advantage of everyone else. Everything I hear about the game tells me it's just the opposite, but I have trouble not making that association.

Yeah, popped up for me a few days ago too. Probably not going to install it since I've played about 6 hours worth and seen pretty much all the content already, but it's cool to see it there.

Obsidian: Developing For Linux Was Not Worth It

I'm just amazed at the short sightedness involved. Yes, we have a relatively small market share currently. But haven't any of these devs heard the term "developing market"? The idea that a market that isn't currently saturated, and so has potential for growth, seems to be basic business to me. One of the things that keeps a lot of people from switching to Linux is simply that there are so few games available, or at least the perception that there are so few. It made me hesitate, a bit over a year ago, because I remembered how little there was available several years before when I was running openSUSE.
Increase the games, increase the number of people comfortable switching to Linux. Increase the number of people using Linux as a gaming platform, increase the market share and thus profits. DON'T use the current market share as an excuse to not increase the available games, that's ridiculous.

I Can't Escape: Darkness, A New Horror Game Coming September For Linux

It seems to have a lot in common with Legend of Grimrock in that grid-based movement and general dungeon crawl-y atmosphere. Although those pixel-y foreground elements that appear early in the trailer like the rock at 0:18 don't really appeal to me. It's like someone resized something in a lower resolution or something.
I guess they're going for that Lovecraftian "archeologist stumbles upon ancient blood cult" sort of riff as far as the horror goes, a much different sort of animal from stuff like Amnesia or Soma, which go for the hardcore scares.
