Well, we do actually. According to the developer (I'll try to look for the source later if no-one beats me to it) this is basically a rather quick-and-dirty, proof-of-concept level implementation of the existing OpenGL backend in Vulkan. No real refactoring went into it. They pointed out that it can not be considered representative of what Vulkan can do, and will improve when they actually update the engine to make better use of the API.

What are you talking about there mate?

10 FPS is too much, but I surely see a constant 5% difference. UT on Vulkan + Linux actually even run quite better than Win + DX12, since they decided to change the main developing platform for the game. Thanks to the Win 10 scandal two years ago hehehehe. Gj Epic :-)

Yes. Smileys are a poor substitute for actual words though. That smiley could just as well have meant that you were pleased with your discovery.

I haven't had any reason to touch the streaming stuff myself, but yeah, you can probably use Steam as a single-application substitute for a "full" VNC-type remoting solution.

Calm down. They're not forcing you to do anything, but in practice using the engine does cost you money if you want to include support for some sort of cloud services. Amazon never said the engine was libre software, and of course it wouldn't even exist if they didn't see any commercial potential in it. You'll just have to come to terms with the fact that corporations want to make money.

Oh really? The trendy, new kid on the block isn't mature? A shocker indeed. ;)

Ignore the hype and keep your feet on the ground. If you actually want to get work done and not hate it, choose something modern enough, but tried and tested, with great and plentiful documentation. Preferably something you can develop in your favourite editor/ide. Personally I quite like Python (with bottle, beaker and friends) on the back-end and boring old jquery on the client side.


PS: Why do I have this weird compulsion to jump in and escalate as soon as a comment thread goes off topic? I think I need help...
