Most likely they simply can't be bothered.

Unfortunately this is one of the many games that are missing their Linux versions at GOG :( And it sounds like they have no plans to bring it to GOG either, as the dev says that the Linux version is Steam exclusive: https://www.gog.com/forum/master_of_orion_conquer_the_stars/known_issues_list_as_of_91616/post4
Wine 2.0-rc2 released with 20 bugs fixed
18 December 2016 at 1:18 am UTC
I tested this a while ago - it needed devenum, quartz, wmp9 and qedit to get everything working and stop the freeze on returning to the main menu; the only remaining issue was the crash on exit (which it seems has now been fixed). Details here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_judas_does_this_run_in_wine_thread_v1173/post501

Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not come to Linux at all, more bad news

This is what they told me:
Which reads to me as "Linux support will be an afterthought/will only be considered once the game has been released and is not guaranteed", which is a very bad sign (I would not be surprised if they later confirm that a Linux/Mac release will never happen due to platform-specific middleware or some other major platform-limiting design choice making it very difficult to do). I'll be getting a refund.

QuoteThank you for your email. We are very sorry that we were not able to keep our promise with a Linux version at release. This is not as it was planned as we have seen that this task is more complex in the development than we thought during the Kickstarter campaign. Right now we don´t have fixed plans regarding the Linux version, as we are strongly focused on the release and we have to look at the Linux version again after the release. This is not a satisfying answer, but the only we can provide right now.

Ubuntu now has a community-built PPA for stable versions of Mesa

I set up a VM last night to have a quick look into this, it looks like what's happening is when you install the updated Mesa from the PPA it also needs to update a bunch of other packages (that are not provided by the PPA) due to dependencies. Then when you try to purge the PPA and revert to the older Mesa version, rather than downgrade those other packages to their previous versions it wants to remove them entirely. Unfortunately those packages are rather important, and removing them means removing a lot of the rest of the system that depends on them as well.

Quoting: paasistiIt seems I got burned (Cinnamon complains that it's running without video hardware acceleration with this ppa) so I tried this. After the first phase it lists out as WILL BE REMOVED nearly every component there is and prompts for "Yes, I know what I'm doing". I did this once, and it wrecked my system. If I type anything else, it takes me to another list with still plenty of stuff being removed (including libs from vlc, skype, steam..). What should I do here? I don't want to reinstall my system like I had to do last time..

AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 actually released, with FreeSync and wider GPU support

I bought an RX480 a while ago for testing AMD's new drivers, but I'm still using my Nvidia 750Ti on my main system. Nvidia currently offers the best performance, compatibility, feature support and ease of use (if using the proprietary drivers PPA).
AMD are quickly catching up with their new AMDGPU & AMDGPU-PRO drivers though. For now I would recommend using the AMDGPU-PRO driver if you have an AMD graphics card, as it offers the best compatibility and feature support between the two (performance is about the same overall I think - some games run better on AMDGPU, some run better on AMDGPU-PRO).
To use the open source AMDGPU drivers you will need to upgrade the kernel to 4.8+/the latest available and install an updated version of Mesa (I recommend using the new stable Mesa PPA: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/ubuntu-now-has-a-community-built-ppa-for-stable-versions-of-mesa.8688 )
To use the AMDGPU-PRO hybrid driver, download it from AMD's website and follow their instructions to install it. AFAIK there is currently no convenient PPA for updated stable AMDGPU or AMDGPU-PRO like there is for Nvidia's proprietary drivers.

Quoting: artvandelay440So as a long time Nvidia devotee on Linux, can someone explain to a relative AMD outsider- are their cards ready for no-fuss Linux gaming support? Is the driver install process as simple as Vvidia? I ask as someone looking at alternatives for my next GPU upgrade.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance will not aim for day-1 Linux support

Very disappointing :( I have a lot of doubts as it sounds like not much consideration has gone into cross-platform portability, which will likely make things that much harder. I'm going to get a refund and will consider buying it if/when a Linux version becomes available.

Looks interesting, shame about the DRM though. Hope they do a DRM-free release at some point
What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

Most wanted: The Witcher 3
I'd also really like Fallout 4 & Skyrim Special Edition
As for Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion, Skyrim... they all work very well in Wine AFAIK, so just getting DRM-free releases of those would be great.
(not counting games that are already confirmed as having Linux releases planned, e.g. Shadow Warrior 2)
