If you go into steam for the game, and force it to use proton experimental, the game will do an update then it fixes all the texture stuff. Character choice screen is fine, etc... I played it a bunch yesterday without any issues at all. Really liking it!

Quoting: 14It's been on my wish list for a good while now. If I'm being honest, I might not pick it up until a year after release. I haven't even purchased or started Elden Ring yet, which is the next major single-player game in my plans. I'd also say Starfield is in the yeah-I-probably-want-that category and not must-have until I hear reviews from critics and friends.

Not a bad idea, especially since by then the community will have fixed a ton of stuff via mods.

The wiki entry for the game says that Bethesda has created a new iteration of the beyond ancient Creation Engine. And that they'll be using this "Creation Engine 2" for Starfield, TES6, and Fallout 5.

All I can hope is that ultrawide support will finally be implemented (it was not for Creation Engine 1 - it required hacks) and that they can finally fix the quest destroying bugs. I can live with minor bugs like visual and mechanical bugs, but when quests get all jacked up and can't be completed, that bugs the everloving shit out of me. We shall see!

Mesa 23.0 out now improving open source graphics drivers

Yes, the simplicity of that switch is REALLY nice. I'm with @HxE though, I honestly don't mind a slowly rolling release. I'll look forward to it when it comes. Won't be long.

The new System Shock remake demo runs surprisingly well on Steam Deck

Quoting: nullzeroNice video Liam, I have to try it then. Combat does indeed look sloppy, and all those attempts to climb a box to destroy a camera... Is the VR mode combat more satisfying?

That is a bit worrying since they also intend to remaster System Shock 2.

I wouldn't count on it. If the remaster of SS1 is any indication, SS2 would release around 2035. And they burned a LOT of kickstarter/indiegogo bridges by delaying this game like 6 years. So they don't even have that to start with.

Praise Be Manjaro!

LOL! I agree ... but even us rolling distros will need to wait a bit.

https://packages.manjaro.org/?query=mesa

The current stable release of Mesa as listed on their site (https://mesa3d.org/) is 22.3.6 which is in unstable branch on Manjaro ... so it needs to get into testing, then stable. THEN Mesa 23 can enter into unstable and start testing.

I'm moreso waiting on plasma 5.27!

Does this compare at all with Naev? I've been wanting to try something like these, but not sure which one is a good starting point.

Quoting: Jarmerdoesn't ue4 work very well on proton? Sometimes I wonder, if that is the case, is it even worth it for them to do a native release? Or is that blasphemy to say? I'm just thinking dev time to upkeep two independent platforms maybe could be better spent on the game itself if it works exactly the same in proton vs native.

The more games that support Linux the better the developer ecosystem becomes.

I suppose you're right ... oh how nice it'd be for linux native to be the default, then "windows support" later on lol.

KDE Plasma 5.27 released with multi-monitor & Wayland upgrades, Steam Deck updater

Yes!!!!!! Ok ... I do love me some multi monitor improvements (although I don't really have much to complain about currently) but this has got me super happy!!

"Save power with one keystroke: While on the lock screen, hit the Esc key to turn off the screen and save some power."

WOOOO!!! Biggest thing I missed when I changed distros from popos with its custom gnome to manjaro with kde. I know, might seem trivial, but I hated waiting for my monitors to time out, especially at night.
