Star Trek: Infinite from Paradox releases October 12

Quoting: fabertawe
Quoting: ElectricPrism...I mean. Star Trek has been dead to me for a while now.. especially after the "ActionMan" movies painted Picard as a psychopathic killer instead of a wise diplomat sage....

Star Trek has been action schlock for a while now.

I guess AI/Neural Networks are our only hope or restoring it to its pristine original form about showing moral conundrums and navigating ethically complex situations objectively.

I've finally given up on it after Strange New Worlds had a dancing Klingon boy band - that episode was actually embarrassing. I thought the first series of Discovery was good but it's been going rapidly downhill since. No comparison with the excellent Star Wars stuff that's ongoing.

it's so funny how polarizing that episode is. I absolutely loved every minute of it. Also the crossover episode. Also the rest of the entire season and the rest of the entire show. SNW is my favorite show on right now, by far. And I absolutely loathe the ActionMan movies that were put out with that hack Chris Pine.

Back to this game: Maybe I'll get roasted for this, but I don't really care if they release a native linux port or not, as long as it'll run well on proton (it will), then I'll be very happy to enjoy it :)

Budgie 10.8 desktop released with plenty of new features

I love a good sidebar, and also love a simple modern interface, so I thought I would like Budgie. But I tried it on a live usb stick a while back and wound up being turned off by the lack of options. Turned out I guess I was more used to all the options in Plasma than I originally thought.

While I love the concept of Budgie, I think I'll continue to stick with Plasma.

REALLY looking forward to this one. Played the demo during steams summer demo fest, whatever it was called, and really enjoyed it. The topside base building was the perfect balance of simplicity vs complexity, and the underground dungeon diving was a great addition as well.

Doesn't hurt that I absolutely love the Dig series and can't wait for Dig 3!

Patch 2 for Baldur's Gate 3 coming with 'major performance improvements'

Quoting: kaimanI'm not rushing my playthrough either, so that the later acts receive a bit more polish by the time I arrive. Not that it's hard to linger in Act 1, as there is so much to do and discover. Even when I think I've already turned every stone twice, there surely is another hidden area somewhere that I missed before.

And there's still some patches of black left on the map, too ...

Same here. I accidentally wandered into the underdark and I think I've been there now for like 3 weeks!!

Proton Experimental improves Baldur's Gate 3 launcher, Unreal Engine 4 bugs on Intel GPUs

Quoting: JarmerDo you know a command to skip the launcher but ensure that vulkan is chosen as the renderer? Every time I play the game I have to remember to select vulkan in the larian launcher because it defaults to dx every single time.

I use Heroic for the GoG version so not 100% how to do this on Steam but if you launch the game exe directly rather than the launcher you can pick the version you want. bg3.exe is vulkan and bg3_dx11.exe is DirectX 11

of all the options, this seems the easiest! Thank you friend.

Challenging survival city-builder Landnama is out now
3 August 2023 at 1:10 pm UTC

I tried the demo but uninstalled it. It's extremely punishing. If you fail, there is no way to quit and restart.

For instance, there is a "normal" tribe that I would consider the easier difficulty tribe, that has no negative attributes. So I picked that one on my first go, and failed during a winter, so that tribe is now considered dead. Not possible to quit and restart. Now I can only choose the more advanced tribes that all have positive and negative attributes, which just makes it even more complicated and difficult.

I just don't have the time for that. Sorry game. All that said, I really do think the game is made well, the art is fantastic, sound is great, and thought that went into the turns etc... All good. It's just made for people who really enjoy quite the challenge!
