The game simulates shipwrecks quite well too. I managed to beach my schooner during a storm. Years later the island have completely buried the HMS Whizse.

And if you don't like fiddling with Wine and so on, you can either download the data files using something like lgogdownloader, or grab the .exe and extract it with innoextracter, much like a .zip archive.

(..and the game is also almost certainly already available as package in your distro!)

This looks like it would work really well as a sort of light gun shooter (LGS?) with a gyro controller or Wiimote. Also needs some really bad voice acting, like HotD, which was frankly the scariest part of those games.
