Overall a pretty good deal. I like the size; that it's an IPS screen; that I can choose Coreboot; the price which worked out to $600 CAD on what I had configured; and that the GPU will work on FLOSS distros. I wish I could choose a stronger CPU and more than 8GB of RAM but nothing is perfect.

I tried the demo and can say that I like it enough to buy it once early access ends but it isn't without faults. I always find visual novels that use Unity over Ren'Py to be clunky and this was no exception. One thing that will make or break this game is it has a lot going on. That is both it's strength and it's weakness. There were tons of things to take into accounts from stats; character flaws and strengths; relationships; etc. There were a ton of tips in game but I feel they could have been summed up better, when you get 13 pages of tips about one area of gameplay then it is either too complicated or badly explained. One thing that I will say that I both enjoy and loathe is that you will not always be able to play the game the way you want. You will be unable to get past areas by certain methods unless you have built your character for that method and you may have to do things you dislike because of it. No character design will be perfect and I love it and hate it.
There is a free demo if you wanted to try before buying.
Quoting: Purple Library GuyThis seems interesting, but I definitely want to hear a bit from people who try it about how the innovative ideas work out in practice, before I go for it.

Valve launches Deck Verified, to show off what games will work well on the Steam Deck

I give this all of a week after launch to find that many games that have a certain rating fail the expectations of that rating.
I don't see that happening at all. There is a better chance of customers installing Windows on the Steam Deck than that happening. Proton has shown that it will only lower the amount of native Linux titles being made not increase it.
Quoting: KorsI'm counting on Steam Deck to skyrocket Linux usage, or at least to bring more games to linux based OS

They're updated now.
On LInux you don't have to install it, simply run the "run_game.sh" file.

They're updated now.
Quoting: heidi.wengerOk i go to the downloads page and click Linux and it downloads SuperTuxKart-1.3-linux-64bit.tar.xz. But when i click that, the installation won't start: all files just show on Engrampa Archive Manager.
But on Windows section it downloads SuperTuxKart-1.3-installer-x86_64.exe and i can install with a click.
So how to install on Linux with a click?
On LInux you don't have to install it, simply run the "run_game.sh" file.

True they are slow in updating the Itch.io page but to be fair using their website for downloads is easy as well. I use their Itch page more for donations.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyY'know, you make some decent points, but you could have just made them instead of in effect ragging on the whole community for not having made them before you.

GOG has their own share of blame here as they allowed a game onto their store that has DRM but what about IO Interactive ? Where is the hate for them for submitting a game with DRM onto a DRM free store ? This is why I am moving more towards FOSS games these days, the amount of publishers and developers worth my time and money for closed source games is dwindling. I would much rather spend my money donating to people and teams that share my values. What I also find funny is that all this is being talked about over a game that has no Linux version on the GOG store. Wonder why ? Ask IO and Feral. In my experience the typical response I have received was that Feral games has no plans to release DRM free versions of their games. Yet they are a Linux darling who can do no wrong in many people's eyes. There are many bad things happening in this story and much blame to go around but GOG will be the only one that Linux gamers attack.

I was thinking something similar. When people invest $100 million they have to expect an ROI and on a F2P game I can't think of too many non toxic ways to achieve that.

I played the free prologue and found several things I didn't like about it but luckily looking at the developer's website it seems they have fixed most of my issues for the full game.
