On my Trisquel system I had success using the Flatpak for Steam. I would never use a Snap of anything myself.

Care to link to your games ? Always looking for more Linux games that use a FOSS engine.

Quoting: baconcowI've already switched to Godot and ported what I had there. It isn't much, but I don't plan on going back. Always online, for a development environment, is trash. Their top executives clear well over $100 million. Apparently, they are spending half a billion yearly on marketing. If they are bleeding profit and want ways to get back in the green, going after the developers profits should not be their first priority.
Quoting: HighballI started with Godot a year ago. I saw the writing on the wall with Unity, which is why I chose to learn Godot. The recent debacle just cemented my decision from a year ago. I hope this will give the current Unity developers the off ramp they need and I hope they take it.

As mentioned before Valve is a private company and that will mean that Gabe would have to say yes not shareholders. This is the exact reason why anyone who takes their company public is insane because once you do it is no longer your company.

Good choice on their part for switching to Godot. Hopefully they actually make a Linux version of their games at some point.
Cyberpunk 2077 gets the 2.0 update on September 21st

I originally was hyped for Cyberpunk. What I wanted was a darker single player story based experience. What they seem to put out was an open world Saints Row/GTA type game with bugs galore. Will this update give me what I wanted ?

I think Liberapay does a lot right. They're FOSS; allow Stripe and Paypal; and allow you to show links to repo and social media accounts for projects and people. I wish they had an option for one time donations though as they only do recurring. They also don't force projects/developers to show how much they make and where it goes so there is no transparency for people who donate. I can understand for developers because if I give money to a person I assume they're using the money to pay personal expenses but for projects it's nice to see expenses explained.

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualQuoting: PublicNuisanceI would have preferred they went with Open Collective. It would have allowed people donating to have the flexibility of one time contributions as well as recurring; would have given people more transparency in how and where their money is being used; and would have allowed people to use Stripe or Paypal versus just Paypal.Do you have any opinion on Liberapay?

I would love to say that this will push more developers to use FOSS engines but my faith in developers isn't that high.

Not a fan of the genre but love seeing people do things like this. The more games using Vulkan the better.
