Quoting: Pengling
Quoting: PublicNuisanceA good first step but to get me interested in even a discount purchase they also have to banish the need for a Bethesda.net account.
Oh, is that actually required for this game? At least in the Unity engine ports of Doom and Doom II, you can cancel out of the prompt and it'll never pester you about it again.

From the Steam page for Doom Eternal:

"Requires 3rd-Party Account: Bethesda.net (Supports Linking to Steam Account)"

https://store.steampowered.com/app/782330/DOOM_Eternal/

I don't know if I can opt out but I won't be taking the chance.

Given how poorly most games are supported I hope developers take him up on this.

Quoting: scaineI'd be happy to throw some money his way, but he only accepts donations through GitHub sadly. I'll always love the guy for Salt and Sanctuary, but not enough to make a Microsoft account.

I don't love Github and certainly don't love Microsoft but I prefer Github over say Patreon because I prefer one time donations over recurring. I also like how Github uses Stripe over Paypal unlike some other options. That being said I wish more people and projects used Open Collective.

Looks like an interesting machine. That's a nice screen and I love that it has Coreboot support. My only concern is that the wi-fi wouldn't work with the libre kernel but that can be worked around if so.

I really need to get my act together and just buy a Talos II. Sure it could have issues as well but at least it's more open so I don't have to rely on closed source microcode updates to fix stuff.
