Quoting: JustinWoodThere's an absolutely delightful blog I read yesterday that I feel does a wonderful job about why the AI hype is just grifters overpromising on what generative AI can do. Recommend folks take a look at it! https://ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/i-will-fucking-piledrive-you-if-you-mention-ai-again/
That was a great read and a great laugh (I totally lost it at "Synergy Greg"! ) - many thanks for linking to it! Lots of common-sense in there, always nice to see (he even linked to this !).

Quoting: benstor214I fed “Head of Privacy & AI Governance at Embracer Group” Tomas Hedman‘s blabbering to the Gibberish Generator and this is what came out of it:

Quoting: Gibberish Level 5There with a demography that AI models benefits for this would mean a companies in scripts and the creative teams regarding a village. If you’re building to become most companies whole game sort of our developers. Entry interaction. As a result, you bargain, AI into this that AI cannot just that is not way that is not to replace people will be tremendous become more, and to become most critical data, which tilts in a companies will move for a competitive disadvantage creative teams regarding inconsis[…]

Quoting: Gibberish Level 6This is the way that displays some sort of imbalanced automated decisions will be much more powerful, we want to replace people with disabilities will also open up coding scriptwriting, image creation between players. To me, they’re indistinguishable.
HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for demonstrating the Gibberish Generator point with a truly excellent example.

QuoteWhat are your thoughts on this?
In spite of how they say they don't intend to replace people, I'm sure that those who lost their jobs are delighted to hear that they've been replaced with what's basically the modern equivalent to the Gibberish Generator.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora now on Steam, broken for Steam Deck and Desktop Linux

Quoting: robvvThere are a number of other cons, in particular: published by Ubisoft, contains Denuvo malware, always-online, in-game purchases and numerous bugs. Add to that a hefty price tag of £114.99 (without discount) if you want the Ultimate Edition (or £59.99 otherwise).
A potential other con for those who might not know this: Disney owns the Avatar franchise, and Disney is pretty greedy and poorly-behaved themselves. I guess that's why they keep teaming up with Ubislop.

I just gave it a try in my browser, and this is lovely. It reminds me a little bit of running Dogz in windowed mode, back in the 1990s!

This wasn't on my radar, but is unfortunate news nonetheless. This part was interesting and deserves to be highlighted, though;

Quote"At the end of the day, our job is to release games that are fun, interesting, and challenging for our players, and our every decision should be taken with that purpose in mind. When we get that right, we earn our pay. So, how do we ensure we don’t find ourselves here again? Honestly, there are no real guarantees. Games are difficult to get right, and we’ll definitely make mistakes, which, as these things go, always become painfully apparent in hindsight, but still shouldn’t reach this kind of magnitude regardless. We have to take a long and hard look at what led us here and see what changes we have to make to become better. In the end, our mission remains the same, and we’ll continue to take whatever steps we need to do just that."
There are vanishingly few entertainment companies out there who understand that it's a privilege to have a job making stuff that people don't actually need. I must offer praise for this attitude, and I hope that they're able to continue making good on it.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI watched that (at your recommendation). It was spiffing!
I love his videos about exploits in games - they're always hilarious. Do make sure to dig into his channel some more if you liked that one! This Spore one was especially funny!

Quoting: ToddLThanks for posting the link to the video and after watching it, I can sense Valve will eventually step in and intervene because this is terrible and a waste of time to majority of gamers that would rather play real games. Banana would be the last thing I'd call as a "game" and I wouldn't shed a tear once it gets removed from Steam.
I suspect that the alleged ban-dodging will bring about that removal on its own!

Glad to share a good video, by the way. Incidentally, The Spiffing Brit covered it, too, and that was an interesting watch as well.
