Quoting: slaapliedjeI do enjoy wondering around giant open maps and kicking random people off of ledges like in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I don't know why, but I just enjoy watching the physics of enemies falling to their doom. The Jedi Knight games are another that is just fantastic in this way. Flinging storm troopers off ledges and to their doom. That, or you need to watch Space Mutiny, which also features rather a lot of people falling off of ledges to their doom.
Granted, it also made me giggle to play Black and White and pick up the little villagers and toss them about. Maybe I should seek therapy. Haha
Your Steam Deck deserves a Deckmate

A brief glance at the article's picture momentarily reminded me of this ridiculous early Nintendo Switch add-on which let you hang the console around your neck. Thank goodness that the DeckMate is clearly better than that, and is actually useful!
It's easy to see how this would further improve the use-case of the Steam Deck as a laptop/desktop replacement, too.

Some of these put me in mind of the Sega Game Gear and the Atari Lynx. Amazing to think that the Steam Deck is worlds more powerful and manages more playtime than was possible back when AA batteries (six each for just a couple of hours, in the case of the Game Gear and Lynx) were still the best option for portable devices!
Quoting: PhiladelphusPersonally I prefer the look of the one we got, but I love seeing all these prototypes to see how we got there. It's definitely neat to see the thought-processes that went into shaping the final product in action, so to speak.

Are we all forgetting how evil geese are, too? I mean, they already made a whole game about that!

Okay, another example with the same idea.
Let's say you want to organize your music library by genre and by year
Quoting: Purple Library GuyNow that makes total sense to me. Except the part where a "Country Western" category exists, of course. My use-case for this will be categorising the photographs of my collection of Bomberman items as it gets bigger... My wallet's not gonna get out of next year's 40th anniversary unscathed!
Quoting: Liam DaweWell, you have excellent taste in music.Quoting: SupaySo, you also post an article about how much you're loving that Disney game. And you make the headline for this as "Distrobox can open up the Steam Deck to a whole new world". Were you singing the last part in your head while writing this?👀 👀 no comment.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumNow, given the best chance and a decent GUI file manager, such as Dolphin you could via UI do it as follows:You can probably save a marginal amount of time by creating the first one and then copying it and renaming that as many times as necessary, but it's probably not enough of a time-save to make any real difference, especially if you're creating a large number of folders.
Right click -> Create new folder and type the path "server-a/home/user" into the text box, and repeat this process through to server-d.
This will create the folders:
server-a:
- home
--- user
server-b:
- home
--- user
server-c:
- home
--- user
server-d:
- home
--- user
But you're not done yet, next you'll need create a new folder set in each server-* folder following the above right click method.
Honestly, with a GUI this will probably take at least a whole minute maybe longer depending on how many folders you need to setup.
Quoting: BlackBloodRumBut can we cheat and make this a whole lot faster with the terminal? Absolutely!I checked the man page to learn what exactly this command is doing since I haven't seen the -p and -v flags before, and I didn't even know that this was a thing that could be done - thanks for this one, it ought to come in handy at some point! This is one of those things that falls under my "right tool for the job" criteria.
From your terminal you can just issue the following commands:
$ cd /where/you/want/those/folders
$ mkdir -p -v {'server-a','server-b','server-c','server-d'}/{'etc','home/user','opt','root','var'}
We're done, the above folder structure has been created. (You can test this if you like, it'll work )

Quoting: slaapliedjeThis! This right here is why I keep thinking I should just pack it in and spend my time playing Amiga or DOS or Atari games...Emulation is the backbone of my Linux gaming partly for this reason - though, to be fair, most things that use launchers and want me to sign up for unwanted accounts don't generally overlap with my gaming tastes anyway.

Quoting: GuestCan someone explain what is meant by "bugs noted as solved in issues with Riot Vanguard"? Does that mean its coming to linuxIt means that how it works under Wine has been improved. I don't know the game, so I couldn't say more than that because I don't know how well it runs (or perhaps doesn't run! ) in the first place.

Well well, X-Bomber looks right up my alley. Thanks for that!
Anyway, another great installment as always! Was it commonplace for budget CD-ROM releases like this to have a Windows binary and then also include the source-code because they're obliged to and for the sake of everyone else? I've actually never seen that before.

For me, it's "It doesn't come up often anymore." (I moved over to Linux when laptop WiFi support reached the point where you had to bring it up/down manually after boot or sleep with ifup/ifdown, because that was fine by me and I knew it'd get even better from there), though I still use it when it's the right tool for the job (I recently had to fix the permissions on some old backups, for example, and that's markedly faster using a terminal, and I like to compile RetroPie for desktop use, for which terminal usage is essential) or when I want to play around with stuff like fortune or BSD Games.
I'm sure that I can't be the only one in that group!

Quoting: dziadulewiczI have been lately seeing this same statement in many places, forums, etc. "I hardly ever use the terminal" or even "I refuse to use the terminal".Now that you mention it, I've been noticing that too, and it's nice to see that the options have gotten this good.
It is kinda telling who has gotten to Linux and from where, how far Linux has come in user friendliness, and what is the preference to use a computer (say, after a long days work). Click click and click
