I mean sure, the open source thing already exists in some form, and you can probably already get it for free, but the point of the kickstarter is for the new features you're promising to come into existence, and just like with a normal kickstarter nobody will get them if someone doesn't pay for them (with either money or time). You could do the thing, have some feature goals, give people some nice exclusive things for different backer levels, all the usual schtick should work fine.

Fish Folk did that, and succeeded in just a few days. I was happy to back it for a few quid after they revealed a Bomberman clone as part of the suite of multiplayer games that it offers.

Also, I must very highly recommend the Frog Detective games - they're fun brief detective spoofs, with fun daft humour, that can be finished within an hour or so. The only pity is that the third game isn't offered here too!

VERY well-put. Unfortunately, gamers are usually not that great at organising against these sorts of things, and are typically perfectly accepting of it as long as they get XYZ Thing that they personally want, wider consequences be damned. Until some massive breaches occur and put people in actual danger, most folks just aren't going to care, which drives me mad, because it's their blind acceptance of it in the first place that causes problems for everyone.

A great bundle here, but it's worth noting that Monster Hunter Rise is one of many games that Capcom has added The Enigma Protector DRM to after removing Denuvo, which is not declared on the Humble page.

Originally Capcom also left this undeclared on the Steam pages for every game they've added The Enigma Protector to, for at least four or so months, but they have now finally fixed that, at least.
