Quoting: Leahi84This worries me too. I don't want to be skeptical, but I can't help it with this. I hope I'm wrong and that this stuff like crypto and ai ends up falling to the wayside as the project develops, but I just have a really bad feeling that this could end up being a bad thing for the Linux gaming community.Remembering things like the GameTrac/Gizmondo and the Infinium Phantom, I think that the bad feeling is justified!

Too many red flags, for me.

Quoting: XvR103This... looks bad. Literally nothing good happens when crypto is involved, I thought we already learned this lesson. From what I'm seeing on reddit there has already been people during the past couple of months warning about signs of something very fishy going on with this project. Many question asked and just "trust me bro" as the answer for everything. WTF is the Lutris dev doing here? Does he really need the money so badly? Seeing this I worry about the future of Lutris even more now. And I see Square-Enix is involved... the same Square-Enix that sold Tomb Raider and Deus Ex to invest in crypto...Earlier reports on the project have revealed plenty of eyebrow-raising things, too - for example, claiming that Fortnite and Roblox wouldn't have to worry about their anti-cheat being hacked because Fedora Silverblue is immutable, whilst simultaneously claiming that there'd be an AI assistant from Perplexity that will play your games for you if you get stuck (rather incompatible with anti-cheat, methinks), along with the first announced handheld using it being strangely focussed on "Web 3.0"/"blockchain" stuff and talking about the OS as if that's what it's for. And there were some shenanigans with a video sent to the press using content that wasn't theirs, too.
Too many red flags, for me.
The Elecrow CrowView Note is a real useful all-in-one portable monitor and keyboard

Everything old is new again! Anyone else remember the Motorola Atrix Lapdock, which spawned a raft of Raspberry Pi laptop projects a bit over a decade ago?
Hopefully this Elecrow device has learned from the restrictions of the Atrix Lapdock, since it sounds like you don't need to deal with awkward adapters for this one.

Interesting to see Gimmick! get a sequel! It'll be interesting to see what they do with it, since a physics-based platformer on the Famicom/NES in 1992 was a groundbreaking idea, but not so novel on the tech of 2024.

Seriously, though, they're not even repeating it next year.

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderWell thats a lie....... There was a robot fest not that long ago..........Hahaha! And the robots in the Dinos vs. Robots Fest had more restrictions on them than the dinosaurs did!

The Points Shop items for this one are nice, as well - the animated avatar-frame is particularly cool!
QuoteWe seem to be practically never without some sort of event going on, it's hard to keep up with them all isn't it? One minute it's for tower defense games, the next for fighting games and now for space exploration and everything that comes somehow close to it. Just look at how many events are still to come! It's easy for me to keep up - there aren't any Fests or events for platformers or maze-chase games.

QuoteWhat have you been playing the most over the last month?Well, I contributed a teeny tiny little bit to Stardew Valley's presence on the list. But it's mostly been emulated goodness via RetroDECK, as has been the case for most of this year for me.

*If you did so on the control options screen, you could see the analogue-sticks and Mode button being added to the on-screen model in real-time.

Quoting: Doktor-Mandrakethe controls were awful, tank-controlsIf you used a Dual Shock controller with the PlayStation version (which was the "lead" one), the analogue controls (complete with second stick being used for camera, which is one of the earliest examples of it in a platformer) were fantastic, so long as they were turned on with the Mode button since it didn't activate them automatically*. Still holds up today - I replayed it recently.

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderBut the real question is..... Does Croc blink???.......Not in the Saturn version, and currently the version in the trailer is doing its best impersonation of that.

Such an interesting company! I'm under no delusions of the "new" Argonaut being the same thing, though - you only get to blaze trails once.

Quoting: Liam DaweOh I definitely remember reading about it, saw a video on it recently too about how hilarious it is now to think people couldn't handle the controls. Always wanted to play it, remember seeing it in stores. It was interesting how they landed that one, too - they were commissioned to create the arcade-game that's briefly seen in the film, and the game-of-the-movie deal apparently came along with that.
