D9VK for D3D9 over Vulkan in Wine has another release out, advancing quickly

Note that some games need d3dcompiler_47, so depending on the requirements of the game you may need to use that one instead of d3dcompiler_43.
I think you can even install them alongside each other without them getting in their way, I don't know, I usually check the requirements and only override what I need.

Seems all OK but I am worried by this note of Joshua:
"Please do not use wine's d3d9x or d3dcompiler with d9vk"
I need to do something more apart of the setup_dxvk install?
Thanks in advance.
winetricks -q d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9

Impressive for sure. But I think what he intends to say in his comment - people could. I could, but I am personally missing the motivation getting home after a work day as a software developer to do even more. The technical understanding is there, I'd be missing a lot of skills in d3d9 and vulkan though, but that's not impossible to learn. The motivation is the key. He has it.
I think the project is great for him for his future professional life, it's a good reference to have applying for good jobs, if he decideds to go that route as a software developer.
He has my respect, for his skills at that age and that he kept the motivation going forward until d9vk where it is now. And hopefully some time to go. It's not as if d3d9 APIs change at all now. Though, will be interesting to see how many games need "custom" fixes, seems to be pretty common in dxvk by now.
Next thing I'll try with it will probably be ME1/2. I had quite some issues with wine implementation (framerates) on my ATI card. Or DA:O, because I'd really love to play it again (it works with wine, but proton gives me a lot of input issues).

Quoting: liamdaweAbout double their age, about half as smart. Way to make me really feel old Mr Ashton ;)

Ok. Gotta' try that one tonight. I've a d3d9 game which is CPU bound and where I still can get performance issues in classic wine even on my pretty "ok" modern hardware.
That's crazy, I didn't expect projects like d9vk or dxvk to actually materialize, but now seeing how well a lot of d3d9 games already run with d9vk, I can see (sooner or later) that those will be the defaults for gamers in wine in the future.
Well, dxvk is already for me for all dx11 titles :p

All these middleware vendors ("3rd party") will reconsider wirh googles streaming service if they believe in a success and want that share.
I'm still sceptical, google cancels more projects than they release, and even more they released than they sustain. Though, gaming market is a huge one, they may put in some more effort in this.
I personally would like if they could bring real cross platform gaming. Not playing shooters, I don't have issues with latency, so for me it's an option.

DXVK is a great project, it's a joy how much it improved several games.
I'm more concerned about the proton state. Since 4.2 I'm seeing issues with some older games (mass effects2, da:o), which started stuttering for some yet unknown reason. Does not happen in wine 4.1 shipped with solus though.

Google announce ‘Stadia’, their new cloud gaming service built on Linux and Vulkan

I'd say it's guaranteed that we'll have even more games. It's built entirely upon the chrome platform on the client side. As long as we've chrome, I bet Stadia will work on Linux.
Not natively, but native games isn't what stadia strives for.
I personally don't see developers going through the hassle natively supporting linux if they can utilize Stadia. If it succeeds.
I personally can see me using this platform for gaming. Latency will be the one thing to consider.
