The Linux port of Banished is still alive, the developer plans their next game to launch cross-platform on day-1

I got Banished as part of a GOG promo awhile back, but I haven't played it at all yet because I'm waiting for the Linux build. It's nice to see that it's still being worked on, however slowly that might be. Personally, I'd rather see a developer want to support Linux, and do it right, as opposed to a developer who only half-assed supports Linux (See Garry Newman or Stoic Studios). It at least appears that he's trying to do it right.

And, of course, I agree with Shmerl 100%, it's a Windows build, not a PC build.

Quoting: hummer010Hmmmmm, I'm seriously considering buying my first Humble Monthly for this game. The game looks great, and $12 is the right price for it, and then there are the other games too.
Total Warhammer is worth the money at full price. $12 is almost highway robbery!

I read a couple of reviews, and bought it. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow (my crappy internet will take most of the night to download it!)

I'm surprised that Shadow Tactics didn't get more love. I guess there just wasn't enough hype about the game, and thus, not enough people playing it. It's such a fantastic game!

Quoting: AroThe AUR is like the killer "feature" the arch universe has.

For me, the wiki is Arch's killer feature, with the AUR a close second.

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming

Welcome to the bleeding edge!!

I switched from Ubuntu to Arch about three years ago, and I've never even thought about switching to anything else. I don't think I could ever switch from a rolling release at this point - it just doesn't make sense. With Ubuntu, I had a dist-upgrade bork things up badly going from 10.04 to 10.10, and I never trusted dist-upgrade again. That meant I had to reinstall every six months to stay current with Ubuntu. I haven't reinstalled Arch since 2013.

Wine Staging 2.0-rc5 released, better support for Origin, GOG Galaxy and more

Quoting: ShmerlYes, GOG installers behave much better with this Wine release.

Good to know! I haven't had a chance to try anything yet. I've updated to it, but that's it.

Too busy playing Shadow Tactics!

The 'Humble Bundle's Best of 2016' has some great Linux games for cheap

No purchase for me, but only because I already have all of the Linux games except for Rust. I'm kind of interested in Rust, but I'm not willing to beat the average for it.

Victor Vran is really awesome. Definitely worth the $1 alone.

Some thoughts on Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, the real-time tactics game

I'm guessing I'm about half way through now, and still loving this game. If I have one complaint about the game, it's that the load/save times are pretty long. I really like the timer showing my how long it's been since I last saved, but I'm sometimes reluctant to save, just because it's bit long and distracting. Other times though, after a particularly technical spot, I like hitting that save button. It's a bit of a breather, and the saving screen is a reminder of the accomplishment.

Seriously though, that's the only complaint I can come up with, and it's pretty minor. Kudos to Mimimi on the design and QC.

If you haven't tried the demo, go do it.

The release of Mesa 17 has seen a bit of a delay, for all the right reasons

I have an NVIDIA GTX870 in my laptop.
And was all excited about Vulcan.
But I guess I will have no benefit from it then?

Unless your laptop is an Optimus setup and you're using Bumblebee. Then you'll be using Mesa for anything you run on the Intel graphics, and the nVidia driver for anything you run on the nVidia graphics.
