My first purchase was Torchlight, back in 2009. I had already purchased it direct from Runic, but I was having trouble getting it working in WINE. Someone suggested that the Steam version would be easier. They were right. I later purchased it a third time from Humble to get a native version.

That's a pause for me. I own 2 of the 3 Linux games, and the one I'm missing, Framed, is pretty inexpensive, so I should be able to pick it up on sale for less than a month of Choice.
Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection coming from the team behind Half-Life 2: Update

It's especially frustrating because you don't need the client to play Valves games. I've used steamcmd in the past, but for the last few years, I've just given in, and used the client.

Quoting: emphyStill peeved at the forced install of that shop to be able to play the game. I'll keep skipping it.
Yes, I can hold grudges for a long, long time.

I love Klei! Every game except Hot Lava is worth owning and playing. Hot Lava might be a good game, but it doesn't support Linux, so I've never played it. I've got a lot of hours invested in Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included!

itch.io hosting a huge Queer Games Bundle 2021 with hundreds included

I can't comment about this bundle, but the Racial Justice bundle was the first time they made you add it one at a time. Really, it was probably a good thing for that bundle - it was so large, and there were a lot of things that people probably didn't want to add to their library. This is really my only comlaint about itch - too much content, and a lot of it is stuff I'll never want.
I scrolled through the Queer Games bundle, and the only things I even recognize are games I already have from previous itch bundles.

Quoting: GuestSince the big bundle for racial justice and equality I’ve been a bit wary about itch usability: do we always have to add games to our library one at a time after buying a bundle, or was it only a special behaviour for this huge one?

It isn't "having it both ways". When I buy a Windows game on Steam, I'm supporting a Developer who doesn't support Linux, but some of my money is supporting Valve. Valve definitely supports Linux. Valve pays employees to contribute to open source projects that support Linux. Linux gaming wouldn't be where it is today without Valve. Period.
When I buy a Linux game on GOG, I'm supporting a Developer who supports Linux, but some of my money goes to GOG, who has done the bare minimum in order to sell Linux games, and has really done nothing to further gaming on Linux.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceAt the end of the day I don't care where people buy there games or how they play them but I hate hypocrisy which is why I asked my question.
Quoting: DorritQuoting: PublicNuisancedo you buy Windows games on Steam ?If they work fine with Proton yes, as they are counted by Valve as Linux purchases.
You can wrap whatever delusion and special wording you want around it to justify it but at the end of the day you are handing money over to publishers and developers who did not put in the effort to make a Linux version. The issue I take with that is when people give GOG flak for not supporting Linux (even though they sell Linux games on their store) but then hand over money to other people who also don't support Linux and somehow want to act like it's different. Either both are fine or neither are but you/they can't have it both ways.

I went through this with Kerbal Space Program. I had ~100 hours into it before the final version released, and now, I've never played the final version.
I bought Valheim, and I've started playing it, but I'm not going to binge it like I did with KSP until it's done.

Ditto. I've got a Ryzen 2500u based notebook that's a few years old, and there's nothing from Intel that's very compelling over it.
